"Pacman" Jones Signs Contract with Wrestling Federation TNA

For the first time in a long time Adam "Pacman" Jones is in the news for working instead of not working. Of course, in this profession "working" has a completely different meaning. In the world of professional wrestling a "work" is a common term. A "work" is anything that is planned to happen in wrestling, whether it is a choreographed match or a written storyline. "Pacman" Jones will get to know this wrestling term and many others very soon.

Since NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told "Pacman" Jones not to bother playing football this season, he has looked elsewhere for work, the world of pro wrestling. "Pacman" Jones will not be working for the world-famous WWE though, they've had their fill of news lately. Instead "Pacman" Jones will be a member of the TNA roster.

TNA is a much smaller pro wrestling federation with a Thursday Night show on Spike TV. Currently their television show does slightly worse ratings than the WWE's third lowest rated show. So it doesn't need to be said that TNA is still a long way from competing with the WWE but the addition of "Pacman" Jones is sure to get a lot of attention from the media, possibly spike their ratings, and possibly move TNA's show ahead of at least one of the WWE's shows in the ratings. That would be a huge feather in TNA's cap.

This isn't the first time that TNA has hired the services of a football player, or even a Tennessee Titan. TNA originally began in Nashville, Tennessee where they ran weekly pay-per-views on Wednesday Nights and on one of the earlier shows members of the Tennessee Titans got involved in a fight with Jeff Jarrett.

Since then TNA has moved to Orlando, Florida but two months ago at their five-year anniversary show, TNA returned to Nashville. That night another Tennessee Titan, Frank Wychek, had a match against "the Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm. There were rumors that Ray Lewis was in talks to also be in the match but allegedly the Baltimore Ravens would not let him participate. TNA has also had other athletes such as World Series MVP David Eckstein, Johnny Damon, and A. J. Pierzynski appear on their program. Though TNA no longer runs it's shows in Nashville, they still have a lot of fans there so the addition of "Pacman" Jones could definitely interest fans in the Southeast area.

Athletes and celebrities are no stranger to the world of wrestling. The WWE has also had many athletes and celebrities appear on their show recently. Lawrence Taylor once wrestled the late Bam Bam Bigelow at Wrestlemania and just recently Kevin Federline wrestled John Cena in the WWE. Legendary UFC fighter Ken Shamrock even had a pretty successful wrestling career in the WWE. The now defunct WCW also had their share of "celebrities" including Robocop and Chucky, yes, Chucky, the murdering puppet from the horror movies.

Many great pro wrestlers have had football in their background. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin played football for North Texas and The Rock played for the Miami Hurricanes. Many other pro wrestlers played football too. Of course the difference here is that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Rock both had training before entering wrestling.

"Pacman" Jones' one-year ban from the NFL means he won't get paid and he needed a new job so it seems like he could be in the TNA for as long as the next year. The Tennessee Titans supposedly have no problem with "Pacman" Jones pursuing a wrestling career.
