But I have the hope that hope remains in those who hope. There had not much success for Filipino boxing stars lately. Marvin Sonsona lost his belt before his first defense started. Donaire is still left on deck for that big fight and instead went singing his heart out in GMA7's Celebrity Duet. And the "Hawaiian punch" had inadequate air to finish a win. So once again the Pearl of the Orient is looking at "Mommy Ds" pride to put it back into the limelight.
Well, we did. The Filipino medical team made the long way to Haiti adding to the existing Filipino presence thereat. And so an impoverished nation but one full of brilliant men and women shares the dramatic limelight of humanitarian mission. That is transcendental. But one far too differrent from the limelight exclusively for a victorious boxing nation- with a swagger.
I am just glad the Mayweather tiff was botched up. Pacquiao could have lost it anyway. You can scroll back and even enlarge it, but I said he could have lost it. And here is the best, the Pacquiao- Mayweather fight could have displayed Floyd Jr. as the most cunning fighter in the world. Believe me, have I told you I do not want to write this?
At the end of that fight, urr uh well..., if Pacquiao is in the ring with hands spread apart then there is a fight, right? So at the end of that fight, of course, Mayweather has the interview phones. And we can all hear him saying, "I told you, I told you, I am right". I had not told you he is right. But he is there telling the jam-packed MGM Grand that he is right.
He and his number one supporter had way before laid the foundation of a Pacquiao defeat. Alright, these senseless musings of a nobody is really hard to understand. So, Pacquiao is there standing proudly with seven belts hanging all over his 145 lbs. frame, a ton of bragging rights and a smile that tears all the way to his ears. And here is my man saying emphatically, "I told you, I told you".
The other outcome, the one a little far-fetched, is a Pacquiao defeat. Again scroll back, I said- defeat. He stands there in disbelief, everybody is in disbelief. Coach Roach shifted from a tempered shepherd to a predator with his claws all warmed up and directed to the other side who is animatedly asleep. And now here comes my man, he says to the microphone, "I told you, I told you". Nobody will ever believe him but he will say it anyway, "I told you". He just had his feet all over Team Pacman.
So I am just glad the fight had not materialize. Thanks to a retired judge. He really is the best in the business. And everyone needs the best to thwart what could have been a protracted legal battle that leads to nowhere but loss to both parties and a vindication of truth.
The upcoming fight versus Josh Clottey will also be a defeat. Now that's the real deal and the real defeat. Because of politics and woman. The congressman things is a distraction. He should have foregone that desire after the first try since it is really an entirely different ballgame. It is one of the worst. Well not every time, but more of the dark side tips the balance I supposed.
Much worse is the other woman thing. Nobody ever admitted it. So nobody outside of those who know reality can make any judgment. Since there is no public admission which tells us, there is no truth at all. Or that it is really impossible to feed the public's thirst for what is believable when it comes to such an intrigue. Whatever is the truth, it all depends on Pacman's resolve to overcome what consequences are imminent.
To Pacquiao' s credit, Jinkee team stands all out for him. That is the best for Pacman. That is the best for him to start overcoming the consequences of a truth or a damning lie. A lie that invades the sanctity of a household or a truth that breaks it.
This fight could come out to be a real defeat in thousand magnitude but a common one. It had been the favorite route down taken in the past by great man. In other words, it is a proven formula for a fall. When a man's apple of the eyes changes from that not of heaven, then he would miss a lot of good things. He would miss the pattern of an effective charge. Having said that is declaring as well the best road to overcome a lie or a capsizing effect of a truth is to return. Simply put, return to the apple of your eyes. Whether it is truth or a lie, return. Pacman return. And you will win. I love to say that, you... will... win!
Am I a Pacquiao fan? I told you.
