Pacquiao Shatters Hatton's Pride

Hatton is Not a Professional Boxer

The controversial titular fight between Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton ended rather abruptly in Las Vegas, Nevada. In just two rounds, Hatton's IBO light-welterweight world title was grabbed from him and his pride was crushed.

But I think it serves him right. Hatton is not a professional boxer--he is a brawler to say the least. He did study Manny's moves, but his tactics were rather out of bounds. His style or tactic to win over Pacquiao is to hold Manny's head and punch him in the face continuously. Although the referee would separate them, but he had already given Manny considerable punches on the face and head. And he was probably betting to give Manny a bleeding eyebrow so that the Filipino idol will not be able to effectively throw punches because his eyesight is affected.

Hatton's style, to say the least, angered Manny.

Manny is wiser and faster and stronger than him, however. Nevermind the payperviews and the people who paid dear money to watch this fight. Manny could not risk getting beaten to a pulp by Hatton. He had to make a move, and he had to make it fast.

So before the second round ended, Manny sent the proud Englishman to slumberland.

I have never seen Manny fight with such fierceness. He used to fight like he was playing, getting serious only when he already needed to land the right punches and when he has already had the audience entertained. But this time, it was different. Probably, Manny thought that he would not give Hatton the chance to batter him. If Manny gets battered, it will take a longer time for his body to heal and for him to ready himself for another fight. Aside from his pride, there are so many things at stake for Manny.

So he didn't give Hatton another chance. Manny gave him such a good beating that long after the crowd went wild, he was still on the floor trying to gather his wits. Pacquiao knocked him out so hard he could not even gather his pride that was scattered on the floor.

Long live Manny! Congratulations on being the new IBO light-welterweight title holder. As for Hatton, maybe he should be more humble next time and fight a decent fight.
