Pacquiao Steroid Squabble Giving Boxing Another Black Eye
Let's face facts; boxing isn't the sport it used to be. Over the course of time, somewhere between the end of the 20th century and the start of the 21st, boxing has fallen out of favor while professional wrestling and mixed martial-arts have come to the forefront to take its spot on the podium. Boxing lost its luster after years of squabbles between which belts actually belonged to the champion and the complete lack of a people's champion who would carry the sport.
Now, on the cusp of being thrust back into the limelight, the sports two biggest fighters cannot come to an agreement on the frequency of drug testing leading up to their proposed bout. Mayweather's camp wants to have the pre-fight testing done and also wants random blood-testing done at any time leading up to the opening bell. Pacquiao's group wants to submit to just three tests; one now, one 30 days prior to the fight, and one immediately following the fight. As of right now, this argument has lead to back and forth exchanges between the fighters' promoters, including the threat of lawsuit by Pacquiao's camp for defamation of character. On top of that, the Nevada Athletic Commission is now ordering immediate testing to take place for both fighters.
But why do we even have to listen to a disagreement over drug testing during a day and age where so many records and events have been tainted by the use or suspicion of use of illegal substances? If the Lance Armstrong, BALCO, MLB, and other steroid controversies have taught us anything, it is that all sports must remain vigilant about the testing of athletes to make sure that competition remains clean and fair for all parties involved. We cannot make exceptions, even if one party believes the means to be unfair.
What is good for the goose is good for gander, and in the interest of fairness, as well as the legitimacy of the competition, Pacquiao and Mayweather need to get this behind them and get on board with whatever testing is deemed necessary. Boxing needs this fight to happen. It doesn't need another reason for fans to walk away.

The issue of blood test surface because of Floyd Sr's accusation on Pacman. Sr. just couldn't believe that there are stuff better than what they "use and push". He probably mixed it up, overheard from Manny's sparring partner.. Manny as "You Know" during his boyhood lived in esteros and practiced with the aid of stereo....in past tense we call it "stereod practice"
Sr. who could be probably high on his stuff mistakenly interpreted it as "ESTEROIDS" or STEROIDS.... lol
it's really mind bogling. just imagine, no other fighter in the planet has discovered the type PED Pacquiao has been using and getting away with it. Shame on you people out there. Pacquiao has agreed to have his blood taken IMMEDIATELY after the fight. Pacquiao might be a genuis in the ring but he is not (academically) educated and is very superstitious.
He believed the reason why he is stronger and faster than most people is that he never had any immunization when he was growing up.
Also when he was required to give blood for HIV and hepatitis tests to acquire a boxing license 10 days before the fight during his first encounter with Eric Morales, he lost that fight. He believed the blood drawing weakened him and caused the loss.
Mayweather knows that blood drawing has psychological effects on Pacquiao and he wants to capitalize on it.
The reason why there are parliaments, senates and congresses, commissions and the like is to make the necessary laws and rules for fairness and equality. This is why we, the law abiding citizens, appeal to our senators, congressmen, members of parliament, and/or whoever has the authority to change laws and rules to suit the times. And when they do get changed, we abide by those for whatever the consequences may be. As history has it, whenever rules and laws are randomly changed to suit individuals' whims, chaos follows.
As Top Rank and Manny Pacquiao have always reiterated, they will always abide by the NSAC's rules. Yet to this day after all this blood test hype, NOBODY has even remotely asked NSAC to change their drug test rules despite the fact that NSAC executives have been talking to these same people pushing for this blood testing almost every other day.
