Pacquiao vs. Cotto: The Firepower Mega-fight

Predictions from Legendary Figures of Boxing for the Pacquiao-Cotto Superfight

If you are involved in real estate business, you are very much familiar with the housing adage "location, location, location." Not surprisingly, in boxing today there is a similar tune and that is "prediction, prediction, prediction." This is the most common topic in every boxing forum and every boxing website on the Internet: Who can accurately predict the outcome of the much anticipated, mega-welterweight showdown between the pound for pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and the current WBO welterweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico? Boxing fans from all over the world and of course, boxing experts (analysts, promoters, trainers, journalists, etc.) have something to say about this incredible and exciting match-up between the two best ring gladiators of the Sweet Science.

Legendary boxing trainers like Angelo Dundee and Emanuel Steward predict that Cotto's skills and power will earn him a victory over the most exciting fighter in the world in Pacquiao, while Pacman's astute trainer Freddie Roach and conditioning guru Alex Ariza boldly claim that Cotto will not last against their fighter's blinding speed and vaunted power. Many popular fighters, who either currently have a championship title or have held one in the past, like Bernard Hopkins, Mike Tyson, and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., agree with Roach and Ariza's assessment. Hopkins believes that Cotto's youthful face will be "busted up" in this fight; Mayweather states that Pacquiao "is a quick starter" and he leans toward the latter in this showdown; and Mike Tyson undoubtedly forecasts, "Pacquiao will win." There are countless predictions made by different, knowledgeable boxing experts for this championship duel and the fighters truly deserve all the accolades and recognitions because they amazingly stand out amongst all the fighters of today: two gallant warriors ready to face and destroy each other with their limitless arsenal of "Firepower."

On November 14th, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, we will witness a boxing classic unfolds before our very eyes, between the fighting pride of Puerto Rico, Miguel Angel Cotto and of the Philippines, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. The former (Cotto) eying to dethrone the pound for pound champion and the latter (Pacquiao) ready to defend his title as the best fighter in the planet and to cement his legacy as one of boxing greats, if not the greatest, by winning an unprecedented seventh title in seven different weight divisions. Regardless of the outcome, worldwide fans of the Sweet Science can proudly boast that they witnessed the greatest fight of all time in their generation: The Firepower Championship of Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.

    Pacman Vs Cotto
Ok its a 50-50 fight, we have power and strench in one side and stamnia and speed in the other. Pacquiao is a warrior he's fast he won't give up, if cotto can cut hes speed using body punches this fight will end in a 8-10 KO, and if Pacman can avoid getting hit in the body by Cotto Pacman will destroy him in a blink of eyes. By best wishes for both fighters they deserve to be there.

Pacquiao has nothing compared to Cotto... Pacquiao have won only against old, used and abused fighters. Cotto will destroy him... Stop day dreaming people!!

Marquez is no Pacquiao so there's no comparison there, Rich. Cotto will fall hard when the Pacman catches him with left straights and right hooks.

Manny will surely win this fight simply because Cotto hasn't recover from his previous injuries both physically and mentally. Cotto has all it takes to win but the confidence and experience will pay its toll. Speed and power is the key in this game not power alone....Go go go Manny a real gentleman.......God bless...KSA riyadh.....

In Hatton and de la Hoya, Pacquiao fought a shot brawler and a rusty, drained boxer respectively. Cotto will be his first taste of a real world class welterweight in his prime. I think there is still way too much hype surrounding Pacman that shouldn't be there, not after Mayweather spanked Marquez. A good big man always beats a good little man.

I am not really concern how Cotto will fight Pacquiao. All I know is that when Pacquiao catches him, he will go down. I can't wait to see this fight. Thanks for the link, PVQ247.

I completely agree with your analyses, Underdog. This fight is really unpredictable. I just hope that victory goes to Pacman because it is more meaningful for him, in terms of boxing greatness and history. Thanks for sharing your thought in this fight.

Cotto and Pacquiao are in two different categories. Although Pacquiao began at 106 lbs and is now fighting at the 145 lb. level, Cotto has been fighting and is one of the best at this weight class. Pacquiao probably is still not used to taking the pounding that Cotto could deliver in this fight. So the key for Cotto is to make Pacquiao realize early that he is fighting a guy who owns the territory and would do tremendous damage to him to keep it.

So, normally, this should be a no-brainer, a one-sided win in favor of Cotto, the bigger guy, against Pacquiao, the little guy. HOWEVER, even from the same perspective, inspite of the same predictions when Pacquiao moved up to higher weight levels to fight the likes of Diaz, Dela Hoya and Hatton, he could again surprise many of us. Pacquiao has proven many times over that he indeed has not only speed, but also devastating power in both his hands capable of putting tough and bigger guys in the upper divisions to sleep. He has the skills and
