Top Rank, the same folks promoting the fight at the MGM Grand Garden are making the fight available on-line as a pay-per-view event. This is the first time a major fight has been available live online. Computers, laptops, phones, and iPads will all be able to pick up the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight for $54.95, which is the same price for the pay-per-view fight at home.
President of Top Rank, Todd DuBoef said they will now be able to reach people in modern way today and he believes that this should appeal to a younger crowd. People are often in transit and may not be near a cable box. This covers this sector of the public.
DuBoef conveyed his thoughts on where the online viewing might fall into the scheme of things. He said,"I don't know that it changes the dynamics of pay per view as much as it augments it," he said. "We've got 80 million homes to sell the fight to, so I don't see the cybercast as a substitute. What it does is it gives us more platforms to allow people who want to watch the fight the opportunity to do so. If you're on a plane, you normally wouldn't be able to see the fight. Now, you'll be able to."
DuBoef said that the online fight viewing is not intended to take the place of the pay-per-view TV fight. He said that the fight will be purchased and telecast to 80 million homes. This is a move to make the fight available to people that can not be at home when the fight is on.
The Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight will be available to more people than any other fight has been before due to the newest viewing venue offered. The people watching this fight online can be anyone from a night watchman to a person who is attending a wedding that day. It just accentuates the availability and opens it up for more people.
"To order the Paquiao vs. Mosley fight online, go to toprank.com, cbs.com, showtimesports.com, cox.com or yahoo.com and click on the pay-per-view link on the home page.
