So Many Unlimited Prepaid Cell Phone Plans, So Little Time

Page Plus Cellular gets on board the unlimited prepaid phone wagon by releasing its very own unlimited plan for $39.95. The market is becoming increasingly saturated by different companies fighting for prepaid (and non-prepaid) customers. Choice is always good for the consumer.

First it was Boost Mobile, with its Monthly Unlimited Plan, then it was Tracfone, with its Straight Talk brand of competitive prepaid cell phone plans, and then it was MetroPCS, which basically shaved five dollars off of its unlimited plans in order to compete.

Page Plus Cellular's new offering is called the Unlimited Talk n' Text plan and includes limitless text messaging, talk time, and 20 mb of data. This prepaid cell phone plan is aggressively priced-and is $.05 cheaper than the next similar plan, which is from MetroPCS. It is also similar to the $40 plan from Cricket.

With this prepaid plan, standard rates will apply for roaming, international voice, international text, picture messages, premium SMS and mobile web.

Here are more details of the Page Plus Talk 'n Text Plan.

Monthly Cost = $39.95 (this is automatically debited monthly)

Roaming charge is 59 cents per minute

Calls to Mexico are 49 cents per minute

International text messaging is 20 cents per message

Picture Messaging 10 cents each plus data transport

Directory assistance is $1.25 plus used airtime

Page Plus Cellular definitely has its work cut out for it if it wants to compete with some of the other players in the prepaid wireless market. At this point, it does not have the most attractive plan, although the company does pride itself on having a lot of phone handsets to choose from.

If you are actively looking at prepaid cell phone plans, this may be worth a look, but you do have several other plans to compare it to. It also really depends on where you will be using your phone the most. For example, if you are live on either of the coasts, you will have better network coverage than if you live in the middle states.
Oregon, on the west coast, has no coverage under this plan. But there are plenty of options for you if you live that area.

A lot of people have been talking about a prepaid price war, which has occurred as several of the big name prepaid providers have begun to drop prices of their plans, while adding extra services. Cricket (leap wireless) has done this very thing as has MetroPCS, one of the nation's most popular regional prepaid wireless provider.

One thing you can say for sure is that it a buyer's market in terms of the prepaid plans available and the amount of value you can get from them.

Tracfone has two plans, one that costs $45 for unlimited use, and another that costs $30 for 1,000 minutes of voice and 1,000 text messages. MetroPCS has an attractive plan at $40. Boost Mobile's unlimited plan goes for $50. There are options.

Prepaid shoppers should compare these plans and see which one works best for their situation, their phone habits, and most importantly, which plan has the best coverage in their area.
