Pahrump Valley Winery

You Are Not Seeing Things Yes Nevada Has a Winery.

Valerie Irion
When you think of Nevada you think of sand, heat, gambling, and oh yes let's not forget the mafia. But Nevada holds its own wonderful secrets one of which you will when you travel east from Las Vegas to a small town called Pahrump. It is here that you will find Pahrump Valley Winery.

You can take a tour of the winery most days at 11:30AM, 1:00PM and again at 3:00PM. On the tour of the winery they will give you a history of the winery, how they make their award winning wines, the tour ends with you being able to sample their wines.

While you are walking the grounds at the winery you almost forget that you are in the middle of the desert. The grounds are well kept, with rose gardens and benches to rest as you walk through the grounds.

The winery has its own restaurant called "Symphony's Restaurant". They are open most of the week for lunch and dinner except on holidays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Of course like any good winery there is a flare of Italian to their menu. Prices are moderate with a business casual dress code. The ambience of the dining room has been given rave reviews by food critics and travel writers from Country Wide Magazine. The service is very friendly as well as helpful when it comes to pairing up your wine and food.

In the gift shop you are able to buy your favorite wines, wine accessories, gift baskets, post cards and many other gifts.

The winery uses grapes grown in Oregon, California and Nevada.

Red Wines:
Their Merlot is one of their more popular wines which have a cherry overtone which makes it great to serve with food. Cabernet Sauvignon is dry, but medium-bodied red wine, with a hint of raspberry and currant. Is aged in the bottle and can be stored for several years. Their Burgundy wines are a bit sweeter than I like but I would still recommend them to anyone.

White Wines:
Chardonnay is one of the most asked for wines. The chardonnay grape permits them to produce the wine at a dry level while maintaining a delicate balance of fruit and oak. Symphony is a sweet, fruity wine, which is also the wine that the restaurant was named for. Peak White, gets its name from Mount Charleston, the peak is directly behind the winery. This wine has a citrus and lemons in its aroma and taste.

Blush Wine:
Desert blush is very popular because they are fairly neutral and can be used for sipping as well as with meals. It has a semi sweet after taste that makes it wonderful to serve with any dish. White Merlot this blush wine once again picks up on the sweetness of cherry, allowing it to be a very drinkable wine.

Sherry Wines:
Their sherries are aged for years, this Crème Sherry has a smooth, delicate buttered-walnut taste. Serve as an after-dinner wine or perfect on top of vanilla ice cream or on your favorite cheesecake.

To add that special touch to giving a bottle of wine they will make a privet label for you, if you order 12 bottles or more.
