Paige Davis Reinstated as Trading Spaces Host

Delightfully perky former host of TLC show 'Trading Spaces' Paige Davis has been reinstated to her hosting duties after an almost 3-year absence.

According to Andy Denhart, writer for realityblurred.com, there was a great deal of speculation as to why she was fired from the show in January of 2005. A popular host, she had already gotten through previous scandals involving a TV Guide cover and stripping for charity. The network claimed her removal from the show was due to wanting to 'take a new direction' with the show. Their change in direction was to have no host at all. Andy Denhart pointed out that in spite of the official network statement, speculation ran rampant. Her weight, sex tapes, and even her hair do were all blamed.

Regardless of reason, Paige Davis transitioned from her hosting duties loss into a successful return to performing on Broadway.

Born Mindy Paige Davis in Pennsylvania at the end of the 1960's, this lovely woman is more than a redecorating show host and Broadway actor. She has written a best selling book titled, 'Paige by Paige', and has also been in commercials and videos. In 2001 she married for a second time, this time to fellow actor, Patrick Page. Wikipedia.com notes what many would guess: she kept her last name of 'Davis' so she could avoid becoming 'Paige Page'.

The Associate Press reports that Trading Spaces is under the production of a new company, A. Smith & Company Productions, replacing her former bosses of Banyan Productions.

Could the change in the production company be the reason for the re-hire? Whatever the reason behind it, many consider it a smart move in upping the ratings and drawing back their lost viewership. With other shows and networks reinstating fired hosts, it was likely only a matter of time before TLC and Trading Spaces followed suit.

The popularity of Trading Spaces spurred on a glut in the market of redecorating shows. With the divided viewership, and the bad press for firing Paige Davis, the move to go back to a winning formula can only help this once top-rated show.

Steve Rogers and Christopher Rocchio report that the show will also be reinstating other former cast members and adding a 'twist' to who is chosen to trades spaces. Now it will be people such as 'a divorced couple or dueling mothers-in-law'.

I quit watching when Paige was canned. Now I have a reason to turn in. Thanks for the info! She made the show fun and really, you need a go between Hildy and the home owners! It isn't a good show if the homeowners cry!
