Paige Premium Denim Jeans Now Available in Plus Sizes!

Nancy Lichtenstein
Paige Premium Denim jeans are one of the hottest-selling premium denim brands in the fashion world, mainly due to their reputation for being the most figure-flattering. Created by Paige Adams-Geller, who was previously the fit model for such premium denim lines as Seven For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, True Religion and Joe's Jeans, these jeans are known to enhance butts of all shapes and sizes.

Paige has now become the first of the high-fashion brands to break the size barrier by creating a plus-size line, which is available for sale exclusively at nordstrom.com. These jeans are identical to the mainstream line in every way, unlike other design lines which differentiate by putting "plus" right on the label. However, there are only two styles available in plus sizes at this time, as compared to over fifty in the misses' line.

Paige Premium Denim jeans are expensive, a lot more money than such plus-sized staples as Avenue or Lane Bryant Right Fit jeans, at $198 for the dark rinse boot-cut style "Mandeville Canyon," and $209 for the similar but faded "Las Palmas." (All of the Paige styles are named after neighborhoods in Los Angeles, her native city.) But they are worth every penny for the larger-sized fashionista who wants a recognizable label on her butt. And flatter that butt they do-I wasn't sure whether to believe the hype or not, and I ordered them sight-unseen the first day they were available on the internet, but when I wore them recently to a family gathering, several people thought I had lost weight. They are also the first pair of jeans that I've owned that looked good with my tee shirt tucked in. (I have a smallish waist and huge hips, for what it's worth, so I'd love to hear how someone who's more of an apple shape finds them.)

The jeans are enhanced with a small amount of Lycra for some comfortable stretch, and they are available in sizes 14-24. They come partially lined with an adorable print floral pattern that apparently is a Paige trademark. The nordstrom.com site says that they run small, so you should order one size up from what you would usually order. The inseam is 34 inches, which means most women will probably have to have them hemmed, unless you're like me and like to wear them with 5 inch platform heels, the easiest way I know to lose 20 pounds in 10 minutes. (Paige Premium Denim does make tall sizes too, but only in misses'sizes.)

God bless Paige for realizing that we curvier women like to look good in jeans too! With no other high-end choices available, she's single-handedly cornered the plus sized market, and I'm sure that she'll win great brand loyalty with this superb product. I can only hope that they sell well enough so that she'll introduce more styles. Paige Premium Denim is also available in men's, children's and maternity styles, and she's recently added cute fashion-forward tops and a couple of styles of jackets to the line. Check it out at nordstrom.com or paigepremiumdenim.com (plus size jeans are not available on the latter site).

Actually, Nancy, 7Seven won the lawsuit and I believe it was settled out of court. 7FAM was actually in the wrong saying the trademark was stolen; Seven is a European company and had been around from the 60s while 7FAM was born in 2000.

7FAM is not allowed to use the word Seven or 7 on its European jeans; on eBay you will find them with an inverted V (pair of pants) instead of the 7 on the waistband as a result.

And Jessica is correct; there are no longer any premium brands for the plus sized fashionista though Magic Johnson's wife came out with a line recently.

They have since been discontinued. As have David Kahn.

    Hi Robin,

The reason the Sevens at Lane Bryant aren't as good is because they're not the same brand as 7 For All Mankind. They are a knockoff (in fact they were sued for using the name). The Paiges are made by Paige Premium Denim and are identical to her other line. But you know what? I just found a great pair of jeans at Ashley Stewart for 19.99 that fit me perfectly. It just goes to show you have to try every pair on.

I can't believe I am just reading this now. Boy how having kids can take the fashionista right out of you at times....LOL....

Seven does have a plus size line at Lane Bryant, but it's just not the same. I was so excited, but the quality level on the Lane Bryant Seven Jeans is way down.

These sound great! I will be saving my pennies to get a pair, and boy will it be worth it!

Andrea, they're available exclusively online from Nordstrom.com. I don't know if there are plans to sell them at the stores too eventually but nordstrom.com's return policy is very fair.

ok where do i go to see them and buy them????????

Charlotte, they really are the BEST, most flattering jeans. Unfortunately my pair is missing (very long story but I think my husband accidentally packed them on a trip he took alone and then didn't know what they were and threw them away). I'm hoping to get a GC to Nordstrom for Christmas so I can buy another pair.

I actually never heard of them but, hey, I'm up for some new jeans.
