Painfully Yours

D. E. Stone
Painfully Yours

You are the brightness of my morning
You are the candle in the night
My heart is full and overflowing
You make everything bright

I am so lucky to have found love
Restless and lonely was my soul
You came and took the shattered pieces
Put me back again, made me whole

The sun could set on our love and I'd be happy
Knowing once what true love is
I see my own goodness in your eyes
I see a beauty that didn't exist

The stars could fade and spin 'round me
But I am safe in the eye of the storm
The world could decay around me
But all time stands still in your arms

All of the bitterness fades away
Left with a purer joy in its place
We are like children, happy and free
This is what life's supposed to be.

With the morning I rise, eyes aflame
With delight to find you still the same
With love in your eyes, love for me
The light in your eyes, it sets me free

I dance as on fire, it's you I desire
And nothing will ever be the same.
My heart and my soul
With you I bestow
I give gladly with love and with pain.

This is wonderfully written from the heart. My favorite phrase in your poem is, "I give gladly with love and with pain". This is what unconditional love is all about.
