Paint Colors to Help Sell Your Home

Eric Brennan
Selling your home in today's market can be tough. That's why improving the look with a fresh coat of paint can help it catch the eye of prospective buyers, increasing your chance for a sale. Whether you paint just a bedroom, every room or the whole house, choosing the right color is important. Use this top five list to help you choose the right color for your home to help it sell.

Bedrooms

Today's bedroom trends are leaning more towards neutrals, with a twist. Known as the new neutrals, colors that are darker like a light brown or a light green are becoming more popular. The heavy tones are masked with a glaze or color wash technique to soften any over powering heavy colors, creating a soft touch while still being bold enough to make it pop. The earthy tones are neutral enough to please any potential buyer.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms should seem just like they do in the commercials-white, bright and full of daytime glow. Colors ranging from bright yellow to soft white are all very good colors to paint your bathroom to help you sell your home. Once again, being the signature of cleanliness, bright colors call to potential buyers that your bathroom could become theirs. With the addition of a colorful mural, a bathroom will still look personal while maintaining the anonymity that buyers like.

Kitchens

Kitchen colors definitely depend upon your appliance colors. Backsplashes, fixtures and countertops can be replaced much easier than kitchen appliances and most appliance colors only come in black, stainless steel or white. Today's modern kitchen trend colors tend to be bright and bold, again denoting cleanliness with white and bright. Gold, ginger and red are the hot colors for stainless steel. White appliances are complimented by bright yellows and greens. Black appliances are accentuated with more natural and earthy tones.

Exteriors

The exterior color of your home is the most important color to prospective buyers. As they see their home on listings for the first time, color choices play an important role to both buyers and sellers. Exterior color should be denoted by the homes regional location, style of home and surrounding neighbor's colors to determine a color that works best to help sell your home.
