Paint Protection for Your Brand New Car

Don't Let Birds and Bugs Destroy Your Car's Paintwork - Get Paint Protection

I last bought a new car in 1990. It was a dark silver Mazda Astina. Sadly in 1996 an uninsured and unlicensed driver careened through a red light and rammed me, pushing me into two other vehicles. Three write-offs in one accident! Since then I've only had second-hand cars and even more car disasters.

Today I took delivery of a brand new Mazda 6 Classic Hatch auto. So did my brother. We decided to buy at the same time to try for a bigger discount. It worked and the dealer dropped the price substantially for each car and added a complimentary spoiler and a full tank of fuel. We then promptly went for some extras, but the end result was a markedly cheaper price than we expected to pay. The deal also included a 3 year unlimited warranty and free roadside assist for the same period.

I can't remember being "fussed over" so much in years. We were treated like celebrities during the delivery phase with a gift basket and movie tickets as a "thank you" and nice people helping us with orientation. The service was faultless.

Some people say it is cheaper to buy a good second-hand car because a new car depreciates as soon as you drive it out of the showroom. That could well be the case. However, nothing surpasses the excitement of buying and owning a brand new car.

One of the most important extras was the "paint and tint package". Tinted windows cut down the glare, but paint protection ensures the paintwork will never be affected by "bird droppings" or "bug-kak" which act like acid and eat straight into the paint, making it deteriorate very quickly. Another advantage is that polishing the car becomes a thing of the past. A weekly wash with a recommended wash product should keep the car like new for many years to come.

We have always bought Mazda vehicles since my first 1200 in 1968. Between the two of us we have owned many of the popular models over the years. Technological advances are obvious in the latest model "6". The engine is practically noiseless and we are going to have to be careful not to exceed the speed limits as just a touch of the accelerator makes the car zoom, zoom - just like in the ads. It is hard to describe how smoothly the car drives - and the new car smell - is delicious appropriate?

I was leaning towards red, but eventually chose Sparkling Black which is a mica paint with gold and colored embedded sparkles. In the sun it looks mysterious - even sexy. My brother's is Stormy Blue - almost navy until it gets in the sun - then it comes to life vibrantly. Our number plates are consecutive to add a bit of "cute" to the experience.

Looking around at other brands, the Mazda 6 Classic Hatch is the classiest looking car in its price range. In fact, it looks distinctive - and much more expensive than it is. I am biased, of course.

We have both chosen to keep our "old cars" - for those trips to the dump and for parking in nasty shopping center car parks where damage from wayward trolleys is likely to occur. Eccentric? Well - yes, but protection is the name of the game.

I suspect that the difference was less in the added paint protection than it was in the quality of the factory paint jobs ... at least, Consumer Reports suggests that this is the case. Ultimately though, we spend so much on a new car that whatever makes the buyer happier and more confident is probably well worth the extra cost!

Very good advice, If I got a new one I would use the protection for sure.
