Painting Tips for Your Own Christmas Cards

What you will need:

Cardstock Paper in your choice of color ( green, red, white, are traditional. Gold and silver are more elegant.

Acrylic Paint

Fabric Paint to add detail

Brushes Use smaller artist brushes

A pencil for outline

Glitter

Embelishments

News Paper

The first thing that you will need to do is decide what you want to have on the cards there are alot of ideas available in chraft books or even on the net. You can even use your inspiration from last years ornaments. Using a pencil draw an outline of the design you choose onto the cardstock and prepare to paint. Layout your news paper on a flat surface and get your painting supplies ready. Your decorating will go better if you set up a station for each of the paints, embelishments and glitter.

Now that you have your design down decide your colors of paint use the acrylic paint for basic areas and use the fabric paint to make more of a 3D detail

If you have children helping you keep them involved by letting them use the paintbrushes to paint inside the lines.

Before the paint starts to dry you will want to add the glitter if you so choose to use it. You can add decorative embelishments that you would use for scrap booking. You can even used a double sided tape to add photo's to them,

Making painted cards doesnt have to be a hassle if you have a general idea of how to do it. Make sure that you make fun out of the experience and include your families name on the back of the card. You can even use a label and type out created by using a little bit of imagination during your holiday crafting will add to the crafts that you make. Keep your children involved give them different jobs to do and make sure that they can add their personal touches. Remember that the little kids are the artist's of tomarrow and allowing for a little room to create will help them.
