Pair of Nuts Bringing Back the Comedy to NYC - 1 Night ONLY!

These two young and creative guys are genuinely hilarious and serve up an evening packed with so much enlivening material that one has to comment upon how rare it is to find something like this in today's over-saturated and bombed-out comedy scene. After seeing them in action doing their parodies it's no shaggy-dog story that the Miami New Times writes that these guys are "Reinventing Hilarity" and Gideon Horowitz, General Manager of the Miami Improv says their presentation represents "Some of the funniest material I have seen performed on my stage."

At 6 feet 4 inches Yamil Piedra, who holds a bachelor's in theater from Florida International Univeristy, has performed on Comedy Central, NBC's Last Comic Standing, BET Comic View, Boston Legal and other hot television shows. He was also in the American Idol film "From Justin to Kelly" (but we're not supposed to tell anyone). His sidekick Johnny Trabanco possesses a mesmerizing tongue, is very fond of gnomes and the band U2 (so, we know he has good taste). Performing comedy since 1998, "Trabs" is not only rumored to be "The Greatest Improv Comedian Alive" but is also considered "Miami's Man for Improv and Sketch comedy."

After watching their Myspaces videos and finding myself virtually (but pleasantly) convulsed in my reaction to their material, I can see why these two "Nuts" were voted as being the "Best South Florida Performance" at the 2007 Miami Improv Festival. Their improv-style sketch comedy act has a variety of intriguing characters, outlandish costumes, and cut-to-the-bone jokes that I found to be extremely clever.

So far, some of my favorite routines include the two fierce dancing guys using "gayo" - that's the mayo for gays. I also loved listening to the La La Brothers' Top Music Hits and I couldn't get enough of Fidel Castro's Instructional Workout DVD (where I learned the proper techniques for pointing to the sky, extending pinky and sipping water, doing the healthy shoulder shrug and also learned the secret to Castro's very own special healthy eating habits to live forever).

The Pair of Nuts will be performing at the Broadway Comedy Club this Sunday, April 13, for a one-night only show before heading out west to Texas and the Los Angeles Comedy Festival. The Broadway Comedy Club is clean, easy to find, and situated right in the heart of Times Square. The $10 admission and 2-drink minimum is virtually pennies to pay in exchange for the amount of promise and pure entertainment that these two up-and-coming superstar talents display.
