Paisanos are Mexican born citizens that have lived in Mexico for a good part of their life, and the word Paisano is usually referred to hard working country side Mexicans who work from sun up to sun down. The typical Paisano usually dresses in cowboy western style clothing, but lately many Mexicans in Mexico refer to each other even in the larger cities by the word Paisano. To be called a Paisano or call somebody else that word you must be Mexican in some shape or form or have lived the Mexican Culture, and the Mexican Community can tell that by looking at the person they are talking too.
In the United States we refer to Paisanos as people from our town or city we are from in Mexico or any state of Mexico especially the country side of Mexico. To be called a Paisano in the United States is an honor and it shows respect of being from Mexico. A lot of times it brings joy to meet another Mexican that is from the same state in Mexico that you are from. I never been called a Paisano, because of the way I talk I have the correct American way of talking, because of the area I grew up in which is Beaumont, Texas but my Mexican people usually refer to me as a Mexicano (Mexican) and that brings joy to my heart. Because, I'm so proud of my culture as well as my American Culture. Being Mexican- American in Texas is kind of confusing sometimes, because I get confused on the way I think sometimes of both cultures, but the most important thing is that I love my cultures and I will strive to one day make this world a better place with my writing works.
So when next time you ever hear a conversation between two Mexicans and the word Paisano comes out it only means they feel comfortable talking to each other, and they have something in common. The word Paisano has evolved in the United States by businesses like restaurants and bus companies being named by that word which is Paisanos.
