Palin Against Biden?

Who is More Qualified to Be Vice President?

Today, the day after Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain turned 72, I am still reeling over his choice of Vice Presidential Candidate. I understand that the Republican Party is trying to win over Clinton supporters, but face it, could they not find someone a little more qualified? An e-mail from MoveOn.org this morning pointed out some things about Palin. I found it difficult to believe that McCain, after only a couple of meetings with Palin, would pit her against such a formidable adversary as Joe Biden.

Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Biden double-majored in political science and history at the University of Delaware. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the Syracuse University College of Law. Sarah Palin received her Bachelor of Science degree in communications/journalism, minored in political science at the University of Idaho.

Joe Biden was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1973, where he has served since. Prior to being elected Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin was a Wasilla City Councilwoman for 4 years. She then became mayor of the small Alaska town.

While Sarah Palin was coming in second in the Miss Alaska Beauty Pageant in 1984, Senator Joe Biden was serving on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, where he was a ranking minority member.

Both democrat Joe Biden, and republican Sarah Palin have sons in the military. Track Palin, 19 is in the United States Army and scheduled to be deployed to Iraq on September 11, 2008 (Steve Quinn, Sept 19, 2007). Beau Biden is a Captain in the Delaware Army National Guard Judge Advocate General's Corps, and is also Delaware's Attorney General (bidenag.com).

Joe Biden is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, and co-chairman of the Caucus on International Narcotics Control. Palin's political experience is limited to Alaska, a state with a population of 670,053 (2006 National Census Bureau).

While Joe Biden does oppose partial-birth and late-term abortions, Sarah Palin is strictly anti-choice, even in cases of rape or incest.

Joe Biden has been a part of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, the RAVE act, and the Violence Against Women Act. Sarah Palin is a lifetime member of the NRA.

Looking at the candidates side by side, I can only recall the infamous 3 a.m. phone call commercial. It seems that according to a 2005 book by Kaylene Johnson (Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska's Political Establishment Upside Down), that Sarah Palin would be up at that hour, but I think that the only thing she has experience doing at 3:00 a.m. , is hunting moose

Abortion, like assisted suicide is a personal choice, and I believe that government has no place in dictating what we do with our bodies, and in no way should a candidates religious belief be the foundation for any law.

Oh know they can read..... You are purposely misleading your audience. This is a direct quote with my source given. " She is opposed to abortion except to save the life of the mother. When she learned that her infant son would be born with Down's Syndrome, she said she never considered ending the pregnancy. When Trig was born in April, she penned a note to loved ones in the voice of "Trig's creator, Your Heavenly Father," rejecting sympathy for her son.
