Palin and Bachmann Attack Obama: Say Being Moderate Not in His DNA; Brand Him Most Radical President Ever

Marc Schenker
How do you fire up a crowd of conservatives? Why, just get two of the most popular conservative gals together at the Minneapolis Convention Center for a rally and have them throw proverbial red meat at the crowd. Then sit back and enjoy the results. At a post-rally interview with Sean Hannity on FNC, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann tore into Barack Obama, accurately attacking him in an election environment that clearly doesn't favor Democrats or the president at all. On the issue of where Obama stands ideologically, Palin factually ripped into him for not having an ounce of moderation in his DNA. Not to be outdone by her slightly-more-hated-Republican-woman-in-the-country counterpart, Bachmann also factually tore into Obama for being the most radical president in US history (she also called Reid and Pelosi the most radical Senate leader and Speaker ever, respectively!). The crowd roared in approval, and a good time was had by all.

In an interview that coincided with Hannity's current book tour for his newest book, Conservative Victory, Palin and Bachmann discussed the various problems the US currently faces, thanks to Obama's very bent policies, and what they felt Republicans could and should do to immediately counteract said policies once they gain control of Congress in the fall.

Starting off the interview with a bang by consolidating her resolve to get Democrats defeated in the midterms, Palin promised to "reload" and fight for her principles, merely a harmless euphemism for winning at the ballot box. Yet such so-called "explosive" language has continually been seized upon by liberals to demonize conservatives for allegedly inciting supporters to violence, and Hannity was all over the absolute mischaracterization of such language.

The Palin-Bachmann rally drew upwards of 10,000 folks-easily bigger than even presidential campaign rallies-and Palin attributed the overflow crowd to a symbol of how many Americans just want their country back from the socialist policies of Obama, Pelosi and Reid. Bachmann chimed in on this verifiable point by making the all-important assertion that all conservatives agree on: The government is just incapable of running private industry.

The discussion then moved towards the aggression of the Democrats in moving the US into a European, socialist-style hellhole, and Palin perceptively referred back to Obama's own, ominous campaign promise to "fundamentally transform" the US and how important it is for Americans to undo all the legislation and policies that set the course of the US towards socialism.

Asked by Hannity whether Obama was an appeaser, Bachmann not only took the offering, but even intensified it, correctly branding not only Obama but also Pelosi and Reid for being the most radical ever at their respective positions. As the crowd cheered those very popular and confirmable fighting words, Bachmann and Hannity, according to the Fox News interview, were heard to both exclaim, "They agree!" clearly delighted at the energy and compliance of the audience.

Apparently, Bachmann has also introduced a bill to repeal the Obamacare nightmare (bless her heart), numbered 4903. On that topic, she invited folks to go to her website, sign said petition, and then naturally forward it to other people. Of course, repealing Obamacare is heavily dependent on a GOP majority in the fall and a Republican president in 2012, and Bachmann was confident she'd get both. Although, as Dick Morris writes, a quicker and easier way to sabotage the ruination that is Obamacare is to simply defund it with Republican control of Congress until repeal is possible by way of a Republican president.

On the issue of "triangulation" (moderating, essentially), Palin just ripped Obama apart for not having it in his DNA to moderate! Citing Obamacare as Obama's missed opportunity to prove he's capable of triangulating, Palin also took him to task for deceiving the American people on his empty promises of bi-partisanship during the campaign.

Many in the crowd-which was supposed to have been there as part of a rally to show support for Bachmann's reelection campaign-identified themselves as Tea Party members or at least supporters when Hannity asked them if they were part of the Tea Party movement. Hannity made the point that a substantial chunk of Tea Party members actually are Democrats and independents, to which Palin replied that that was verification of the fact that many Americans are simply revolted at being caught up in the party machine when their main purpose is to stand up against the increasing encroachment of a constantly growing, federal government under Obama.

From the sheer size, energy and intense motivation of the crowd that came out to see GOP heavy-hitters in Palin and Bachmann, it would appear Republicans are ready not only for battle in the midterms, but to all-out crush Democrats in their principled will to take back Congress for real Americans. If the engagement between Palin and Bachmann and the crowd was any indication, it sure looks like the GOP has all the advantage going in to the midterms, the advantage being reflected in the intensity of party loyalists to get out and vote. This is also substantiated by poll after poll, which consistently has the GOP ahead by convincing margins over Democrats for control of Congress.

I've had the displeasure of observing Obama close up and impersonal here in Chicago and Crook (Cook) County for years. The man is a Marxist, no doubt, but he is also a thug Chicago politician, who learned at the feet of Mayor Daley. The Republicans better not be too confident of a landfall in November. Especially if millions of new, formerly illegal, citizens are added to the voting roles. Remember, the dead vote in Chicago. At least twice. Imagine how many times an new citizen can vote?

    Good report, Marc!

I suggest you study some recent history. In 1964, Barry Goldwater shot to the top of the Republican ticket because he had the purity of purpose that the suddenly-dominant right wing of the party was after. And look what happened in the election. That said, Goldwater was a towering intellectual compared to the idiot, Palin. Run her in 2012, and she will be crushed like a bug on a windshield. If you want Obama out--and you are perfectly entitled to your opinion--you had better hope they get someone other than Ms. Palin to run.

I hope the Republicans are ready for Obama's 2010 campaign strategy. He is about to turn the tables on them. Obama will veto any repeal of the health reform bill. A repeal of the health reform bill would be the worst mistake the Republicans can make. It would bring out all the voters who voted for health care reform and that would spell disaster for the Republicans in 2012. Remember that health care is still a major issue in our nation. If you consider the items (in the current health reform law) one at a time, you will find that the majority of the items have bipartisan support. The Republicans want to waste untold millions of our tax dollars by starting from scratch on health reform.
