On Hannity's second question, Palin was also disappointed in how Obama failed to live up to how, apparently, "inspiring" his past speeches were, and she placed the blame for this squarely on his pervasive and incurable sense of being disconnected from the American people. With regards to healthcare, for instance, Obama made it clear during his State of the Union that he was going to obstinately press ahead with it, unpopular as it is with the people due to its quality being that of a government-takeover. This, Palin asserted, is primarily why his speech failed to live up to his past grandiose moments.
The issue of Obama being out of touch with even his own track record was visited next, and Palin foreshadowed that the "fact-checkers" would have an awfully busy night trying to reconcile Obama's misleading claims with what he's actually done. In example, on the issue of lobbyists, during the speech, Obama talked a good game about doing away with them, yet in real life, Palin reminded the audience, Obama actually has at least 11 high-powered lobbyists that are part of his administration. Clearly, this is not the action of a president who is not under the influence of lobbyists, the opposite of what he ran on even!
In the speech, there was even a scandalous moment involving SC justice Samuel Alito, regarding which Obama made a discreditable assertion that painted the Supreme Court in an unflattering light. Obama charged that the Supreme Court had violated precedent and in a recent ruling permitted the special interests such as corporations, domestic and foreign, to "bankroll" American elections. Justice Alito was actually caught on video mouthing "not true" in reaction to Obama's baseless charge. Alito's actually correct when you analyze the issue. Spending money during federal elections-even by corporations-is just another factor of free speech as voters vote with their pocketbooks by "bankrolling" their favored candidate. It's really a free speech issue, and Obama only made that unfair charge because of the perception that corporations donate more to the GOP, who are more business friendly.
In response to this, Palin analyzed that Obama was really disrespecting the separation of powers by using such a big bully pulpit to make an accusation that could well be untrue. In fact, as per my above explanation, it is very untrue as far as the accusation went.
Palin's commentary on the Obama speech closed with her thoughts on the Obama healthcare debacle and terrorism. On healthcare, she declared that Obama was wrong to cast it as a failure on his part to "explain" to Americans what's going on; on the contrary, she asserted, Americans know and reject Obamacare, which is why there recently was the phenomenon of the GOP sweeps in VA, NJ and MA, all reprimanding Obama's policies.
On terrorism, after Hannity astutely cited Obama's hypocrisy on his silence to stand in solidarity with the Iranians last year as they were being killed by their Islamonazi government during protests, Palin concurred that that was another failed opportunity for Obama. She lamented how he failed again to make a stand and assert that the US would speak out for human rights in Iran and elsewhere in the future and warned that if he didn't, then his credibility would be increasingly undercut.
All in all, a very disappointing at best-and completely objectionable at worst-State of the Union speech by Obama. But with him having failed all of his first year on the job as numerous polls will attest, what can you really expect from Barry at this point? Not much is the answer, my friends...not much at all.

Post a CommentVery good report. I know nothing about politics - not enough to write about it - but I'm with Sarah Palin on this. Obama is out of touch.
Obama truly is out of touch with the American people....as are the vast majority of those in Congress.
Excellent report Marc!
It's not surprising that Palin spoke in favor of the Supreme Court decision. Her campaign in 2008 proved that she loves running nasty negative campaigns. It's sad that the Republicans want a no-regulation lawless business environment. That means this whole recession will repeat itself in the future.
Obama only had one failure thus far: Remember how he promised to unite the nation instead of dividing it? Well, the next two years present a golden oppportunity to do so. If Sarah Palin really wants smaller government, she should criticize all the tax cuts and incentives that are increasing our deficit. However, it is nice to see that she is improving her performance answering questions. Sarah is going to need all the help she could get to win the GOP nomination in 2011. She can't afford any more media blunders.
I think Obama is an excellent orator but I want to see those words turned into actions. Let's hope things can turn around in the next three years.
Excellent write-up, Marc. I'd expect as much from Palin, to hammer away on the Obama out-of-touch stuff. :-)
Excellent!!!
Great job with this information.
Great recap. Good job Marc.
