Palo Alto Adopts New Emergency Alert Notification System
Neighborhood: Palo Alto
Palo Alto, CA 94301
United States of America
How would you know if there was an emergency affecting residents of Palo Alto? Last month, Palo Alto quit using the Community Alert and Notification System (Palo Alto CANS) in favor of a new county-wide system--AlertSCC. Other cities in Santa Clara County have already been using the county-wide AlertSCC system for over a year. Now Palo Alto will use this same service.

The emergency notification service is provided by BlackboardConnect-CTY®. The AlertSCC system allows countywide communication with residents across Santa Clara County, including Palo Alto. The types of emergencies are usually matters that require quick action and quick notification. The City of Palo Alto urges residents to sign up for this free and vital service. In the event of an emergency, it is the quickest way for residents to receive timely emergency updates.

--If you are a current subscriber of the Palo Alto's CANs system, your information was automatically transferred to AlertSCC.

--AlertSCC, allows you to select your areas of notification including Palo Alto city only along with county-wide emergencies that affect our area.

"Examples of notifications include: disaster information, crime bulletins, power outages, and other related urgent or time-sensitive information," according to the City of Palo Alto.
