Pamela Anderson's 'Other Side' Revealed on Dancing with the Stars!
What I Learned from Watching the Baywatch Babe Dance!
Dancing with the Stars was Positive Exposure for Pam Anderson
Ask the question, "Do you like Pam Anderson?" and you'll get mixed answers and reviews. From the Puritan sort, you might hear negative comments about her overtly sexy image that has grown leaps and bounds since her days as a Playboy Playmate of the Month in 1990. From the ladies, they might shrug as they harbor a bit of jealousy over her gorgeous face and perfect body. For the men, they will most likely give you a resounding, "Yes!"
Whatever image you had of Pamela Anderson before her run in Dancing with the Stars this season, it probably improved as you watched the show, and I'd venture to guess that you kind of hated to see her booted off last week.
There's no getting that 'sex symbol' off Pam's resume, but I think many of us saw a different, softer side of Pam that we didn't know existed. She became a more complex person to us, instead of just a Bay Watch babe in a red swimsuit, or that voluptuous blonde bombshell whose sex tapes made it all over the internet.
In DWTS, we saw several different sides of Pam Anderson:
We saw her talent as a dancer and athlete. Pam's performances were exciting to watch and she proved to be athletically strong and graceful. She explained that when she was young she was a gymnast, which explains how she was able to execute some of the most difficult moves and steps, including splits and dancing across a table in high heels! She obviously enjoyed the story behind each dance and received raving reviews for her characterizations of such greats as Dolly Parton and Marilyn Monroe. One of her best performances was the Rhumba, performed to "I Can't Make You Love Me", in which you will become mesmerized. Watch it here.
We saw her composure under pressure. As we got a glimpse of her practice sessions, we never saw her lose her cool or temper. What we saw was a patient dance student, who was intent on mastering a new routine, listening 100% to her dance partner's instructions.
We saw her grace when criticized. Accepting of the judges' critique of her performances, Pam shrugged off the sexual innuendos with a little half grin, and used any negative criticism as guide for improvement in preparing for her next dance routine. No arguing back or silly jabs back, only a few little pouty looks from those famous lips!
We saw her humorous side. The show allowed viewers to watch Pam effectively deliver some funny lines. (When asked why she decided to be on Dancing with the Stars, she answered something to the effect, "To check another thing off my list. CHECK!", and when a judge said, "America is seeing another side of Pamela Anderson", she demurely said, "A Lot of people have seen different sides of me", an obvious double-entendre.
The Comedic Side of Pam Anderson
Many people might remember that Pam Anderson had a two year stint as the "Tool Time girl" in the hit comedy television series, Home Improvement, before her shot to fame in her role as C J Parker in Bay Watch. But fewer will remember my favorite Pam Anderson role as humorous Vallery Irons in the TV series, V.I.P. (1998 to 2002), The plot of V.I.P is described by Wikipedia as follows: "The series stars Pamela Anderson as Vallery Irons, a woman who accidentally saves a celebrity and then is hired by a real bodyguard agency as a famous figurehead while the rest of the agency's professionals work to solve cases. Her lack of investigation skills ends up defeating the antagonists in every episode." The show ran for four seasons and exposed Pam's innate sense of humor and acting finesse when delivering a humorous line!
What We Girls Can Learn From Pam Anderson
As I watched Pamela Anderson practice with her partner, Damian Whitewood, on Dancing with the Stars each week, it became increasingly apparent to me why Pamela Anderson is so irresistible to the men, and what we ladies can learn from her in regard to taming all that testosterone.
Of course, first, we can all see what they see; Pam's beautiful face, her long, tousled blond locks, her sculpted body, ample bosom, and lean legs that go on forever. But I think it's more than just her physical attributes that attracts the guys.
I think it's her ability to project a sweetness and vulnerability in spite of her sexy, iconic stature. It's the lilt of Pamela's soft voice. It's that impression she gives of totally submitting to a man's needs, while she actually holds on easily to the reins of power. It's her ability to pump up the ego of the least confident man in the room by a slight tilt of her head as it touches his shoulder, or by pursing her painted lips with that sexy pout, or a coy grin. It's the little girl inside the sexy woman that gets to them, and I doubt Pam Anderson has to ask a man anything twice!
When it comes to the internal stuff of Pamela Anderson, she exemplifies how a woman closing in on 43 can still compete with the younger girls in the dog-eat-dog show business world (it takes more than cosmetic surgery to look as good as she does!) She shows us that we are never too old to try something new and conquer it! She shows us that we can be powerful and still be feminine. And, as exhibited in her recent Larry King interview, she shows us that it is more attractive to find something nice to say when asked about someone else, than to put them down or provide negative gossip.
If you missed Pam Anderson on Dancing with the Stars, that's a shame because I found it inspiring. I wouldn't doubt that we see more of Pam's 'other side' in the future. I agree whole-heartedly with DWTS judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, that Pam's ability to synchronize her acting and dancing talents on DWTS could easily be translated to the stage! Watch out Broadway, this ex- Baywatch babe is not just a lot of blond fluff!

Post a CommentPam WAS breathtaking back in the late 80's early 90's before she ruined her looks. I take the opposite stand that the writer of this article takes, I think women like her set all women back. This is not the 50's I am not Marilyn Monroe (nor do I want to be) and I do not want to be submissive or "fetching" to any man. they are pigs enough on their own, when left to their own devices. She just makes it possible for men to further objectify women. I have nothing to learn from this woman. I am a REAL woman, secure and sexy with myself, my body, my sensuality, my confidence. My looks may have attracted my husband to me, but my personality and sense of humor have kept him laughing with me for 20 years. I am also 43, but my good looks come from fruit, veggies, water, exercise and not smoking or drinking alcohol. I don't have help from a personal trainer, a personal chef, etc. And I don't need to wear makeup to leave the house. I wouldn't trade places with her for 1 second. I don't
What would she look like today without plastic surgery of any kind? She's getting older, looking older, and I'm still searching for some kind of talent. What does she do exactly, anyway?
By the way, I saw Miley Cyrus's new video clip on E! News. Wobble thighs, look out!
I totally agree!
I disagree with this article also, as a female close to Pam's age I'm surely not envious of her nor do I think she has a gorgeous face. I do think she acts like a fool pretty much non-stop though. She's not that hot!
Sorry, but I disagree with this. I still think Pam Anderson is nauseating!
"gorgeous face and perfect body"
Obviously some peoples taste is from their backside
"In DWTS, we saw several different sides of Pam Anderson"
Wasn't she wearing underwear??? What's new!
For all the Pam lovers, GET SOME CLASS
There's no doubt that she is a really good dancer. I think she looks so much better during the rehearsal scenes, though. Natural looks better on her.
