Pampering Mom on Mother's Day

How to Make the Mom in Your Life Feel Special Without Spending Too Much Money

It's easy to fall into a routine of taking Mom out to lunch for Mother's Day. While lunch out is always appreciated, there are some simple things to do at home to make a mom feel special on Mother's Day. Consider the following ways to celebrate Mother's Day that work well, even when money is short.

Easy Ideas for Breakfast in Bed on Mother's Day

While breakfast in bed may be a common way to start off Mother's Day, men and children who don't feel comfortable in the kitchen may struggle with the thought of whipping up an excellent breakfast for Mother's Day. If that describes you, consider the following easy breakfast in bed ideas.

Cut up some fresh fruit such a strawberries, and top with yogurt and a sprinkle of granola. Serve with a toasted bagel and coffee or tea and juice.

Make a bowl of oatmeal and sprinkle with toppings such as dried cranberries, raisins, shredded coconut and chopped walnuts.

Make some scrambled eggs, and serve with fruit and pastries purchased from the grocery store.

Breakfast in bed is even more special if it is served on nice china, on a tray with a cloth napkin, and a bud vase with a single flower. Even if you have to pick up breakfast, Mom won't mind at all when it is served in style.

Pamper Mom on Mother's Day with a Spa Day at Home

A spa day at home is another way to spoil Mom on Mother's Day without spending a lot of money. Some easy ideas for a spa day at home include a candle light bubble bath, a facial, and a foot massage.

If you don't know where to start, consider picking up a gift set that includes lotions, foot scrub, bath bombs and other luxurious items sure to please Mom. Sets are a great way to make sure that all the various products work well together and they are often packaged nicely.

Let the Kids Participate in Spoiling Mom on Mother's Day

When kids are younger, it may seem they are more trouble than help when it comes to helping making Mother's Day special. While it is true that things may not be done as perfectly if children are involved, it's important for children to participate in making Mother's Day special.

Give the kids projects to do ahead of time such as making Mother's Day cards. These don't have to be complicated. Even plain paper and crayons can be used to create cards for Mom. Making the cards can help children who are too young to help with breakfast preparation stay busy, while breakfast is prepared.

Be patient with children; they may not do things perfectly. Mother's Day isn't about perfection, it's about showing love and appreciation to the woman who means so much to everyone in the family. Enjoy pampering Mom on Mother's Day with a simple breakfast in bed and spa day at home. Especially if the children are involved, she is sure to appreciate the thoughtful things you do, even if things don't always go according to plan.
