Pampers Gifts to Grow Program: Rewards or Ripoff?

Ms. Wettin
With Pampers offering new lower prices on their diapers, the amount of users will surely increase. Both new and seasoned users will be happy to learn that Pampers is now offering a new program to reward their loyal users, named Gifts to Grow. The Gifts to Grow program allows consumers the opportunity to collect points from their products and bank them on-line. Once the consumer banks enough points, they can redeem them for various prizes from books and movies to a scooter or tricycle.

What many Pampers customers may not realize, if they did not read the fine print, is that shipping and handling charges may be applied. This may not seem bad until one finds out how high the shipping and handling charges are. A simple board book carries a shipping charge of $3.35. The same book retails for $4.99 at Barnes & Noble. While there are more valuable prizes as your points increase, the shipping and handling charges increase along with them. A basic Bob the Builder DVD will cost the Gifts to Grow user $5.41 to receive. The movie can be purchased for $10.55 at Video Universe.

The biggest reason I am rating the Gifts to Grow rewards program a ripoff is because the website will not tell you how much shipping and handling charges are on the items until you have enough points to redeem them. Many users are banking their points for the bigger ticket items to find that after all their time and effort, they are rewarded with an item that cost them as much as it would during a good sale.

I have saved all codes for a year and spent the time entering every code on-line. My reward for my time and energy is a Dora and Boots at Play Park Lego set which I can have shipped to my home for $8.13. If I had not spent a year of my time on this program, I could buy the same set from Lego's website for $19.99 using an on-line code for free shipping. So my total reward for a year of saving is $11.86. Reward or Ripoff: you decide.

I suggest that if you are a loyal Pampers user, collect and redeem your points for the on-line coupons (which have no charges to redeem) for Earth's Best baby food while your child is still young enough to eat baby food. Other on-line coupons are available for Blockbuster, Growing Memories, Sears, and AboutMyStages.

In conclusion, the Gifts to Grow program is certainly not worth changing your diaper brand.

I think Huggies' points program is more of a ripoff. EVERY time you enter a code, they make you enter the security code even when you're logged in. Plus their prizes are crappy compared to Pampers. AND Huggies was late bringing aboard their points for prizes so I've bought a lot of products that had no reward points. I contacted them at customer service and they told me I'd need to cut out all the little upc codes with original receipts and mail them in. Ridiculous! Like I'm going to keep receipts for something that's not a rebate?

I believe it's a ripoff and even more so now with the current changes this year. Not only is S&H fees ridiculous but the current items themselves are no reward for the points they are.

Only thing I have a pet peeve about gifts to grow is saving up my points for an item only to find out it is gone the next time I logon. It takes a long time to get the points you need. I don't see how all these people can spend points unless they are using other peoples points. I understand alot of people may have picked it. I just hope they rotate the same items once in awhile. Don't get me wrong the rewards program is great for mothers who need a little extra something, or a toy for the baby in order to take a break.

Getting something is better than nothing. What I think is a ripoff is a 10% discount. Some stores offer that on big purchases but the most you will save is probably three dollars. I'am glad Pampers is now offering free shipping because on small items your basically paying for it with the shipping. After all the diapers we buy, and babies born in this world I don't see how they wouldn't have money for free shipping.

How is it a rip off if you have to buy diapers anyway? I love pampers, they're the only ones I can use. So I'd be buying them anyway. This is just a cherry on top for the time being.

NOT A RIPOFF AT ALL!! i enter the codes and so far over a year and a half ive earned probably 40+ dollars in gift card rewards. i've never had to pay shipping so just be smart on what you cash in your rewards for. dont get things that require shipping costs. how hard is it to enter codes anyway...i manage to do it just fine with two kids and other things going on in my life. dont do it if you are going to complain about it, no one forced you to get a reward.
