Panama City Vacation - #1 "Must Do" - St Andrew's State Park
St. Andrew's Park is known far and wide for its sugar white sands and emerald green waters. This State Park, which at one time was a former military reservation, has over one-and-a-half miles of beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and Grand Lagoon. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and canoeing. Two fishing piers, a jetty, and a boat ramp provide ample fishing opportunities for anglers.
If you enjoy hiking, there are two nature trails which wind through a rich diversity of coastal plant communities - a splendid opportunity for bird-watching. Those wanting to relax can sunbathe on the beach or enjoy a leisurely lunch under the shade of a picnic pavilion. Full-facility campsites, as well as primitive youth group camping, make this park a popular overnight destination. A concession offers snacks, souvenirs, and fishing amenities. Shell Island Boat Tours are available during the spring and summer. Located three miles east of Panama City Beach, off State Road 392 (Thomas Drive).
Panama City Vacation - #2 "Must Do" - Golf
Even if you are not a golf aficionado, try to spend time on the links of Panama City. They are some of the most beautiful in the country. There are many golf courses to choose from. You'll need a guest invitation for some of the private clubs, but there are ample semi-private and public courses to choose from, if you don't know "someone in the know".
Play Signal Hill Golf Course and Fox Run Country Club are both public courses which are well kept, challenging and reasonably priced. Holiday Golf Club and Bay Dunes Golf Club are both semi-private 18 hole courses. The amenities and beauty at each of these is well worth the slightly higher greens fee. If you're looking for a real bargain, consider the "after 2 PM" fees at Bay Dunes, just $22.50 includes a cart and taxes. Wow!
Panama City Vacation - #3 "Must Do" - Greyhound Racing
At Ebro Greyhound Park, which is about a 15 minute drive from Panama City Beach, you can watch the majestic greyhounds race. This really can be a fun event for the entire family. Your kids will enjoy seeing the how the dogs are handled and you might even get lucky at the trackside betting. The dogs run from March until September, so plan accordingly during this time.
Panama City is a wonderful vacation destination. The beautiful weather and ample activities all combine for a "vacation of a lifetime" opportunity. Have fun!

Post a CommentAs a fairly new condo owner in PCB, I agree. Panama City Beach is gorgeous and is still a fairly young star in vacation spots. Shedding the MTV crowd personna will take time, but families are finding the Beach a perfect place to play. We love it there, and our condo is on the quiet west end, yet minutes from the restaurants and places to play. It is currently a buyer's market there, but this won't last too long. So many new venues are up and coming. This is a perfect time to invest. If one can hold out long enough, this growing town promises to make any serious investor successful. Thanks for promoting Panama City Beach!
Any thoughts on investing in a vacation condo in Panama? Prices still seem affordable, and I've heard they're doing a lot to increase tourism down there.
Thanks for the tips. We are thinking of going to Panama City in the spring.
Great article. P.C. beach is very beautiful!
Good article--but don't buy a condo!
