Pros
Out of the box this canister vacuum is easy to assembly. Attaching the hose and wand is a simple matter. You just need to make sure you also connect the power to the vacuum head so the beater bar and headlight could work
The top part of the canister is where attachments are stored. It's neat because it's hidden and it makes sure you always have the attachments close just in case you need them.
For you who are sick with power buttons located on the canister instead of the handle you will be relieved. Panasonic's engineer place the power button and the carpet-to-floor switch right on the handle. It makes it easier to change settings since all the buttons and switches are close to your fingers.
After you turn on the machine you can see how strong the suction power is. This canister vacuum can suck in dust, dirt, sand, hair and crumbs like a super magnet. The nozzle is 14-inch wide so you can cover large area in one sweep. It is fairly quiet too. I love to do my cleaning when the kids are taking their nap so a loud vacuum is not a choice for me.
Another good thing about this vacuum is that it has a retractable 26-foot long power cord. After you're done vacuuming just push a button and the cord will come swirling back into the canister. Changing the bag is an easy thing to do too. It is placed in a basket and you can just lift the handle to take it out.
Cons
No shoulder strap is included with this unit. A little inconvenience if you're used to carrying the canister when doing the cleaning.
The second grief is the wide nozzle. While it is great for covering large areas in a single sweep it also makes it hard to maneuver in corners and tight spaces.
And finally, this unit has no suction control. Panasonic seems to believe that one size does fit all but most people prefer the choice to adjust the suction power when cleaning upholstery.
Conclusion
The Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow lightweight bagged canister vacuum cost about $250 in most stores which may seem a little pricey for a canister vacuum. However, it does have the performance and convenience factors to match the price.
