Pancreatic Cancer Action Network hits the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak
Neighborhood: Woodward Ave. @ 10 Mile Road
Royal Oak, MI 48067
United States of America
On Sunday, Sept.12, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network hit the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, 3,500 strong. Their reason? To raise awareness and funding for research in the fight against pancreatic cancer. The organization raised over $200,000 toward research for pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is one of the top four cancer killers in the world, being the only cancer with a single digit survival rate -- 6 percent.

The survival rate is, in part, to a lack of funding for research. Only 2 percent of government funding is used for pancreatic cancer research nationally. The new spokesman for pancreatic cancer, actress Lisa Swayze, wife of the late Patrick Swayze, is doing her part to help the cause in the public eye. If you want to know how you can advocate or learn about her seminars on the topic visit www.knowitfightitendit.org.
