There are many of these symptoms and not all will apply to you, although a few probably will. Don't be alarmed even if many do apply. It doesn't mean you're in bigger trouble or it's harder to overcome.
Panic Or Anxiety Attack Symptoms
- feeling dizzy or lightheaded
- chest pains, difficulty breathing or feeling you can't get enough air
- rapid or irregular beating of your heart
- trembling or shaking
- immense terror, fear of dying or going crazy
- lump in your throat, choking sensation or difficulty in swallowing
- sweating
In addition, you could also feel nausea, feeling a sense of doom, hot or cold flashes, tingling sensation in your fingers and toes and distorted vision.
You may also experience tummy troubles, nightmares, a dramatic increase in senses (particularly in sound and sensitivity to light) and shoulder and neck pain.
Depersonalization and derealization can also be experienced. As interesting as this may sound to most people, it can also be very disturbing. It is a symptom of anxiety and is so unbelievable and unreal.
A person may feel like they're in a dream state or trance. They may feel like they're in a fog, disembodied or 'spaced-out'. Don't tell a sufferer that it's "cool" to feel this way.
What Can You Do?
Luckily, there are many things you can do to feel better. It will probably require you to be patient and work at it. Patience and hard work may not be at the top of your agenda, but please do try.
The obvious thing is to see your doctor. Cognitive behavioral therapy along with medication is quite effective. You have many other options, depending on you and your situation.
You could try hypnosis, yoga, proper abdominal breathing, programs like Panic Away and The Linden Method, natural products like PureCalm, Anxius or MindSoothe.
There are many others, but change takes time.
If you have even one panic anxiety attack symptom, please try to deal with it quickly. Dragging it on will be like a dark cloud constantly hovering over you. There are many ways to feel better.
Your progress may be quick or slow. It's great if it's quick, but hang in there if it's slow. It will happen. Stay focused and don't give up. As hard as it may be, you are stronger than you think.
