You long to turn the clock back, feel normal and be the person you were before, free of fear. Do you wish to gain control of your life again?
Do you sometimes wish your panic attacks and/or agoraphobia were over and that you'd beaten it? Are you living in fear and sometimes think it's impossible to get better?
Panic Attacks Can Lead To Agoraphobia
These are very natural thoughts. Back in the 70s or even 80s, not much was known, especially by the general public, but now, help is available.
People have heard about it. If you have it, you MUST do something about it. Imagine the old days when no one knew about this. All those people who suffered, perhaps for the rest of their lives and couldn't do anything about it.
Generally, there are 2 kinds of panic attacks; one that comes out of the blue for no apparent reason (non-situational) and one that is caused by an external stimulus, such as an elevator or a spider (situational).
About one-third of people who have a panic disorder will go on to develop agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is more debilitating. Despite the definitions of agoraphobia that you may read about, agoraphobia really is a fear of everyday living.
There are varying degrees of agoraphobia. In some cases, it's so bad that a person is confined to a room! For others, they may be able to go out, but only around the neighborhood or if they are accompanied by someone. This makes the sufferer feel awful and even embarrassed, particularly if they are older.
There are steps you can take to recover. It's not going to be easy, particularly with agoraphobia. There are products and programs you can use that have helped many people.
There are many medications that work and if you don't like using drugs, you could use alternative forms of therapy, which, again, have helped many people.
Effort & Positive Attitude Go A Long Way
An important point to understand is that everyone is different and whatever treatment you use, including drugs, not every method will help. You may need to find one that does work for you, and there generally is.
There are also tricks you could try to improve your situation. Again, it will need effort, time and dedication on your part. You'll need to be patient, because the results aren't quick.
Don't let panic attacks and agoraphobia drag on. The longer you leave it, the harder it is to overcome. It can be overcome. Just like most things, it requires hard work.
Your road to recovery won't be easy. Yes, it's not fair. If it were easy, you would have overcome it by now, right? There will be good and bad days. You cannot travel this journey alone. No matter what anyone says, you need help to recover.
Each person is different. What works well for one will have no effect on another. It will be hard frustrating work, but then, it's a frustrating illness.
Can you do it? ABSOLUTELY! It must be done. If you do nothing, chances are you will never get well. You are not alone. Millions of people suffer from this. You need to remain positive, especially during the rough patches. You can beat panic and get your life back.
