Panic Attacks Cure: How I Overcame Panic Attack with Meditation

Panic Attacks Anxiety

Deborah Oakes, NPS
I experienced a panic attack for the first time and knew nothing about panic attacks cures. Since I was successful curing a headache and low-blood sugar with meditation the day before the panic attack, I decided to try it.

Loss of Control

True physical symptoms develop with panic attack. These symptoms include: heart palpitations, vertigo, trembling, inability to think and a general feeling of irrational fear. I additionally felt a loss of control which I found frightening. This was associated with the inability to think rationally. I could see it was all irrational but was unable to do anything about it which brought a feeling of loss of control.

Panic Attacks Anxiety

I had been snowed in for several days and food supplies were running low. We had forecasts for more snow and reports were that grocery stores were without supplies because delivery trucks couldn't travel icy roads.

My driveway was impassable and as the day went on, anxiety built. Finally, I felt a loss of control and panic. Since I had already been successful from the previous day meditations for other symptoms, I again sat down and meditated according to the instructions in my first article, A First-Hand Experience with Meditation.

My Meditation Practice

When I meditate, I sit with legs crossed and a straight back. Then, I pray, give the meditation time to God, close my eyes and focus my mind on God. I repeat the name of God, from Vedic scriptures, which is Krishna. I switch my focus between my breath and repeating Krishna's name for the hour. If my mind drifts from this, I always bring it back.

Before the hour of meditation was over, I was already calm and all anxiety and panic disappeared. I never experienced anxiety to this magnitude in the past and feel it was a panic attack. To relieve it with an hour of meditation is noteworthy for anyone who experiences them. No medication of any kind was used nor were any alternative treatments used except meditation.

Panic Attacks Cure

Although meditation is indicated for spiritual progress, research and my personal experiences indicate health benefits as well. Relief from symptoms such as headache, low blood sugar and panic attacks anxiety were all relieved by my experiments with meditation.

Panic attacks come from absurdly exaggerated thoughts that are untrue and unfounded. Although these thoughts are absurd and unfounded, the individual's body reacts to these thoughts as if they were real and possible.
