Panic Attacks: Putting Yourself in Their Shoes

He felt his heart thump across his chest - he could barely hear the mellow music that was played over the car's speakers. He couldn't concentrate on the road as his heart seemed to skip a beat. His stomach lurched. He sensed that his sweat was dripping over his face. He felt he was crazy as his thoughts were rising. He was merely blinded by this sense of impending doom. He tightly held unto the steering wheel as his mustang swerved from the main road and almost fell into the ravine!

The scenario above portrays what people with panic attacks usually experiences. General Anxiety Disorder or GAD is commonly called Panic Attacks. These are sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal and fear. Shortness of breath and chest pain are the most predominant symptoms. Panic attacks differ from other types of anxiety in terms of intensity and nature of occurrence. These attacks are associated with a sense of feeling crazy, feeling of like having a heart attack or an apprehension that they are about to look in the eyes of death.

Do you fidget when you are asked to stand up in front a huge crowd? Have you ever noticed yourself breathing heavily with your heart beating faster than the bullet train? Have you ever felt sweating profusely all over? Have you been in situations in which you felt you were transported to another planet? Have you ever experienced feeling that your heart was stabbed a million times? Have you ever felt like a hand strongly grappling unto your neck? Have you ever been so anxious that you could not breathe properly, to the point you really feared you were going to die? Have you ever been unable to move your limbs?

If you have been in a situation similar to the ones above, then you should not delay treatment. Keep in mind that the only solution to panic attacks is to handle it face to face. Panic attacks are nothing but a circumstance that your mind should learn to fight. This is an ordeal that you have to battle to settle this dispute between your mind and its response to a stressful stimulus. As you walk through the valley of death, you shall use the best plan to outwit panic and face it like a like you are in a brawl, or like a warrior with a gilded armor. Never retreat. Execute your plan and lead a happy life with a clean state of mind away from that death-defying phobia.
