Pantone Announces the 2012 Color of the Year

Jennifer Wagner

Pantone is packing a punch with its newly declared 2012 Color of the Year. Each year Pantone gives one color from their vast collection this distinctive title. This year's new color sensation is……Tangerine Tango (17-1463). Described by Pantone Color's executive director Leatrice Eiseman as being "Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango in an orange with a lot of depth to it".

The color orange and its counterparts has grown in popularity over the years, so the introduction of Tangerine Tango in Pantone's line is appropriate. Incorporate this energetic color into your home in any of the following ways:

- Bedding
- Interior paint
- Home accessories
- Accent rugs
- Decorative pillows
- Dinnerware
- Serving utensils
- Accent furniture

What the new color of the year means

Orange, tangerine, and other colors like it are widely associated warmth, energy, and fun. A room painted with Tangerine Tango will always be sunny, even when the lights are out. This color family is youthful, dominant, and refreshing, and is a great choice for the living room, kitchen, or dining area as it is as stimulating as it is refreshing.

How to use Tangerine Tango at home

This stunning color will work well with virtually any home design. It's a great match for an exotic design, Southwestern interior, Moroccan theme, contemporary loft, or a sunny backdrop for a country kitchen. With the right accents, Tangerine Tango will work in absolutely any home.

Cool down the warmth of Tangerine Tango by balancing it with neutral tones such as taupe, chocolate brown, or a silky caramel. Spice up the color even more by accenting it with cinnamon, brick red, or a vibrant yellow.

I like this color. You shared good ideas for mixing it with either neutrals or spicing it up.
