Papa Vino's Italian Kitchen in Livonia, Michigan: One Customer's Review

Lisa Marie
My first visit to Papa Vino's Italian Kitchen in Livonia, Michigan was an enjoyable one for me, though not so much for my companion.

We were greeted promptly upon entering the restaurant and seated quickly. The server arrived within a minute of our being seated and our drink order was taken and we were provided with a loaf of fresh baked bread and oil with freshly ground black pepper.

I ordered a Raspberry Frosty Bellini while my companion enjoyed a regular Coke. While the bread was fresh and the oil served was good, ti doesn't compare to the taste and flavor to the bread I've enjoyed at Macaroni Grill. My drink however was exquisite and was well priced at $3.00.

I chose to order a side Caesar salad to proceed my entree and my companion ordered Garlic Cheese Toast as an appetizer for the two of us to share. The salad was very good and was served with just the right amount of dressing, something which is not always the case when you order a Caesar salad at a restaurant. The Garlic Cheese Toast was tasty as well.

I chose the Tri-Color Tortellini as my entree which is made with cheese filled tortellini, Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, zucchini, and tomatoes. I enjoyed my meal very much and had enough left over to take home for lunch the next day.

My companion however did not enjoy their choice nearly as much. They ordered Lasagna with a Traditional Meat Sauce. The Lasagna was served warm, not hot as my tortellini had been. The Traditional Meat Sauce was spicy, something that was not indicated as part of the description provided of the item on the menu.

The server didn't return to our table for at least ten minutes after delivering our food to the table, in which time I had eaten most of my meal, and my companion ate two bites of their lasagna not enjoying it at all. My companion did not complain and the server didn't ask if anything was wrong considering that the entire portion of food that they served was still on the plate. My companion asked for a box for the lasagna and we preceded to order dessert.

We chose to share the Cinnamon Apple Crumble. The dessert was served in a large glass and had cinnamon flavored apples covered in caramel served over vanilla ice cream and topped off with almond biscotti crumbles. We both very much enjoyed the dessert and overall were fairly pleased with our visit.

So, if you are looking for a nice relaxing dinner out give Papa Vino's Italian Kitchen a try.
