Paper Craft Ideas: Blue Lily Monogram Note Cards

Landra Lynn Jacobs
Monogram note cards are not only great to receive, a small set of four or five of them also make for a perfect gift! These beautiful blue lily monogram note cards have a very vintage look, and are super easy to create.

For this project, you will need:

- Baby blue cardstock, two sheets

- Urban Lily "Everyday Lily Linen" Print Scrapbook Paper (found in stores and online at Paper Addict)

- Krylon Short Cuts Aerosol Paint in Golden Pear

- White vellum paper

- Krylon Leafing Pen in Pale Gold

- Decorative edge scissors

- Ruler

- Pencil

- Elmer's glue stick

- Newspaper or drop cloth

Due to the use of spray paints and glues, it is important to first cover your work area with newspaper or a drop cloth. Fold the baby blue cardstock into a greeting card shape. If you wish to have a smaller greeting card, trim the cardstock with scissors. (You can also purchase a pre-folded greeting card base, available at craft and scrapbook paper stores.)

Using the ruler, divide the front of the greeting card in two halves. Use a pencil to mark these halves. Cover one half with a second piece of cardstock, leaving the right side exposed. Paint the right half of the front of the card with two coats of Krylon Short Cuts Aerosol Paint in Golden Pear. Let the paint dry completely.

Lay the white vellum paper flat on your workspace. Measure and cut a piece of the vellum paper that is the same size as the gold painted area. Apply a strip of Elmer's glue stick to the top of the vellum paper and adhere it to the card. Dry fully.

Lay the Urban Lily "Everyday Lily Linen" Print Scrapbook Paper flat on your work area. Measure a piece that is 1/2 inch larger than the unpainted half of the card. Cut out the paper using decorative edge scissors on the side facing the gold paint. Mat the printed paper to the cardstock using an Elmer's glue stick. Dry completely.

Use the gold leafing pen to create a monogram letter in the lower right hand corner of the vellum paper. Let all paints and glues dry completely before signing the inside and giving.

TIP: Make four to five matching cards from this project. Find matching baby blue envelopes, and tuck the entire set in a blue organdy bag for a special gift!
