Paper Crafts: Learning Colors

Parents can show kids how different color combinations make different colors.

Use the squares of tissue paper to cover other squares, to show how the colors change to make new colors.

Preparing the Materials for the Stained Glass Kid Craft

The tissue paper should be cut into small squares of paper, about the size of a large eraser. The tissue paper squares do not have to be exactly the same size, but theyshould be close.

Making the Frame for the Stained Glass

Take the piece of black consturction paper and draw a circle on it. Use a plate or other round object to trace a circle.

If you don;t mind an oval instead of a circle, fold the paper in half instead and cut out a half circle. When you open the paper, you will have a shape that is oval.

Next, fold the circle in half three times. It will make a small cone shape.

Using the scissors, cut out different shapes from the paper. Think of cutting out a snowflake, it's sort of the same. Except this time you are cutting out little "windows" for the stained glass.

When you are done, unfold the circle.

Paper Crafts: Adding the Stained Glass

Look at both sides of the circle and see which side you want to be the front. Now turn the circle over.

Begin gluing the tissue paper squares over the black frame.

Layer the tissue paper on top of other tissue paper, exploring different colors.

Cover the entire side of the frame with tissue paper until you can no longer see through the empty holes.

Turn over. Now you have a stained glass window.

Hang in a real window for the full color effect of the stained glass paper craft.
