Paper Cups

Brittany Trexler
Despair spills from my eyes
There is no one here to know,
My heart being far from home
I cut it out with my own knife
Gave it away to you
My sewing skills are lacking, I fear
The stitches already coming undone
The blood is showing through
Please come back to me
I need the patience in your hands
To fix what I cannot
Without you, my sun does not rise
She waits patiently, resting
For the strength in your arms
As you hold me close to you
A reminder that you'll never let go
For your warm breath
As it trails down the back of my neck
A sign that you are still there even as I close my eyes
For your touch once again
As nothing else can heal my hurts
A way you single-handedly bound me to you
But for now, I have to wait
I've put these tears in a paper cup
Saving them, to show you later
For there is nothing that can be done for now

This poem was actually written when my (now) husband (we were only dating back then) went away for basic training in the Marine Corps and I was having to deal with my problems on my own because he wasn't there for me to run to like I had been.

This [poem seemed to have two subjects or scenarios. It makes for a thinking responce, well done.
