Paradox

Theresa

I want you because
I can not have you.

Because you are a free spirit
which can not be possessed.

You are a cool breeze
on a hot summer's day,

Which blows about me
and brings me pleasure,

But which I cannot capture and hold,
Try as I may.

You are a warm sunset
Dancing on the listless ocean,

The beauty of which
I can barely comprehend.

And though I reach out to you,
You evade my touch
And fade into non-existence.

Although I could have you,
I would not want you.
