Parallel Lives

Genie Walker
Our dimension of time and space,
Must have folded upon its self.
Creating a parallel universe.
Where a parallel self can exit,
In the same sphere of space and time.

Or maybe the universe has loped over onto its self.
Making his a dimension within a dimension,
With no boundaries between.
I met my parallel self today, she is you.
What a shock to see what could have been.

You are bright, intelligent, articulate, creative,
And beautiful; both inside and out.
At twenty odd years or so younger,
Your light far exceeds mine own.
What an awesome being you are.

You have had the courage and intelligence,
To take on many adventures.
Much more than I.
I often wonder how it is that this parallel self
Has gone so much farther than me.

Is it a matter of you taking most of the right paths?
Or being in the right place at the right time?
While I kept choosing the wrong paths,
Or is it that I didn't choose a path at all.
Too busy standing in the glare of my fear.

On quiet reflection that could be it.
What a sobering thought.
I could have gotten where I wanted to be sooner.
If I just had the gumption to do something.
Okay, I need to change.

You lead me by your example.
Choose a path and go for it.
Easier said than done.
But it will be done.
Watch out for the new me.

Perhaps this parallel universe
Was created just so I could
Learn that valuable lesson.
What a great visual aid.
Only my younger parallel self would do.

Thank you, God for creating her,
And for putting her into my life.
She leads me by her example.
The lesson I've learned is choose a path and go for it.
Thank you, my parallel self.
