Paralyzer by Finger Eleven

The song Paralyzer was the first song that was released from Finger Eleven's fifth album called Them vs. You vs. Me. Released March 6, 2007, the lead singer Scott Anderson that the single was different than the rest of the songs on the album because it was more of a rock feel. This song was very successful, finding its way to the top of multiple charts. It has been performed twice on Jay Leno, ten months apart. There are two versions of this song. The original version, which can be found on the CD, is an uncensored version, while the radio edit one contains swear words. This song has been certified as 2x Platinum. The song is only 3:24 long.

This song has been found in sports and television culture. During the New York Islanders warm up, this song is played for the players. It has been played during television shows Gossip Girl and Greek. It has also been featured in the video game Rock Revolution. It was also used during the AFL football game between Collingwood and Sydney.

The music video for this reached as high as eighth on VH1's video countdown. It was also featured as number twenty-three on the entire 2007 video countdown despite only having on the charts for one week. The video was first released to YouTube. The video consists of a man walking, who then begins to dance on the street. He then sees a woman. During the chorus, there are dozens upon dozens of dancers around these two people, as the numbers increase after each chorus. The band can be seen playing on a rooftop.

As stated above, this song has done exceptionally well on the charts, topping Finger Eleven's hit One Thing to become their most popular and successful song. Although it debuted at number 97, it rose to number ten on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 after eight months. A month later, it hit its peak position at number six during the week of January 5th, 2008. This song also reached the peak at number seven on the U.S. Billboard Pop 100. It was able to top a couple charts, too. It reached the number one spot on the Canadian Singles Chart, U.S. Modern Rock Tracks, and Mainstream Rock Tracks. It was also able to place as high as third on the U.S. Hot Adult 40. This song found success in other countries, too. It reached third in the Canadian Hot 100, seventh on the New Zealand Singles, and twelfth on the Australian charts. It reached the number twelve spot in Australia based on downloads alone.

Finally, this song was dubbed the top Alternative song for iTunes in 2007. It was the number one rock song and ranked as the number eight song in 2007. To date, there have been over 2.5 million downloads.
