Paranormal Experiences and Me

My Unexplained Occurrences

It's a sad matter of fact but the only people who believe people who have paranormal experiences are other people who have had experienced themselves. I'm willing to bet most of you who are reading this have never experienced anything out of the ordinary; I'm not certain if I envy you or pity you.

Either way, I'm going to recount some of my experiences to you.

My first experience happened years ago back when I was a teenager. My parent's basement had a small area that was furnished with carpet and furniture and since the house was small it was the only place we could set up our out of date personal computer and my already ten year old Nintendo. This was before the days of easy internet access so my parents didn't see any reason to supervise my computer time. No supervision and all these electronic gizmos, despite being out of date, made it so I was in the basement all the time.

No matter what you do to them basements are creepy and mine was no exception but I've always been a logical person so I simply put it out of my mind and enjoyed my free time.

My paranormal experiences started, unlike the traditional horror movie moonless night, in the middle of the afternoon. I was playing some outdated game on my Nintendo when suddenly the channel changed. If this were to happen today there wouldn't be anything wrong with this but keep in mind how long ago this was. My TV was so old that it didn't have any remote sensor so it would be impossible for a stray remote control or radio signal to change the station. On top of that, a power surge in the line would reset the TV to channel 4, the channel I was already playing video games on and not the channel it changed to.

I thought this was strange but I was focused on winning my game so I quickly changed the channel back and continued to play. After a moment of button mashing I started to think how strange the channel change was but how "at least it had only changed to channel 5, if it had changed to channel 8 that would have been really freaky."

It doesn't take a Hollywood directed to see what happened next. Suddenly the TV changed to channel 8 and as fast as I could I turned the TV off and put as much distance as I could between me and that TV.

Years before this someone had given me a lava lamp as a gag gift and with no better place to put such an inefficient item I used it in the basement. If nothing else ever happened I wouldn't even have thought twice about the hand that repeatedly formed in the lamp but...

I liked to play dungeons and dragons so my friends and I would often get together to game, usually in my basement. After the incident with the TV I started to notice that D&D books we would leave out would move around the room in between the time when I would show my friends out and when I got back to the basement. I would always ask my parents and friends if they had moved them and every time I'd ask they would claim innocence. Seeing how I hadn't told any of them about the TV and I would see putting away my books as someone doing me a favor I had no reason to ever doubt their replies.

After this had been happening for a while I finally told me friends and family about these strange events. Of course no one believed me, that is until one of them started to experience strange things as well.

A few months later a friend and I were watching TV in the basement. Suddenly, a can of soda he had been drinking shot out of his hand and flew several feet a crossed the room. We both stared at the now up turned can, him with a look of confusion and me with a look of satisfaction.

Someone finally believed me!

I have experienced things I cannot explain for most of my life. The fact that I could hear boot steps coming up the hall when everyone else was in bed or in the living room, and no one in the house owned a pair of boots. Sleeping on the couch in another place I lived and had someone whisper my name in my ear, everyone was asleep. Hearing something fall off my bed and when I checked it was where I left it.
Taking a shower with a towel under the door and no window or vents in the bathroom. I could not keep the shower curtain from touching me while I showered.
Seeing shadows out of the corner of my eye in a mirror, but when I looked, nothing there. My mother's house always seemed to feel heavy and dark. We always seemed to butt heads while in the house. I have even woken up with marks on me that I could not have put on myself. I also have very sensitive hearing and can hear someone enter a room, almost like a sixth sense. There has been times when I hear someone enter any given

I guess I'm a bit different than most, then, because I always believed in the paranormal, even before my own experiences, which you can read about in my article from a while back titled "My Life With Ghosts".
