Parasite Asthma and Allergy Treatment Shows Promise

ABC News has interviewed the man who started a business using parasites to treat the symptoms of asthma and allergies. Jasper Lawrence, an entrepreneur in the Silicone Valley area of California, said it got rid of his symptoms.

Lawrence reports watching a British Documentary made by a scientist that explained how people who live in a climate where hookworm are prevalent do not suffer from allergies or asthma. A long time sufferer himself, he researched these claims. When research all pointed to the same findings he decided this is something he would be willing to try.

He made a trip to Cameroon, where he did something most travelers are warned about doing in foreign countries. He walked barefoot in open air latrines in hopes of contracting the hook warm. To his delight, his feet soon became itchy, which was a sign that the little critters might be on board.

It worked. To his relief his symptoms were gone. It took a few months for the effect of the hookworm to take place. He reports that after a few months of being infected, he was able to stop the drug prednisone that was needed to treat his symptoms. He no longer had the symptoms of asthma.

This led Lawrence to start his own company selling parasites to people who suffer from allergies and asthma. They also sell parasites to help relieve symptoms of other diseases such as Crohn's and multiple sclerosis. His company is not alone. There is at least one other company that started up offering this treatment to the public.

This is really a creepy way to rid yourself of symptoms. Lawrence reports that the average person who is seeking this treatment has tried everything known to mankind first. He goes on to say that it is "perfectly normal to be freaked out by it". He still has some nightmares about it, even after all his research.

The FDA has not approved this type of therapy and doctors warn that although it is promising and a legitimate way to treat people with these ailments, not enough studies have done to test its safety and long term effects.

Lawrence believes that people who are inflected with such symptoms form asthma and allergies do not have the time to wait. He believes it is perfectly safe and the research is there to back up it's success.

"No one chooses parasites as their first treatment, no one", Lawrence adds. The typical patient has been sick for 15-20 years and have exhausted all options. Lawrence goes on to reassure that this parasite treatment is very safe and that hookworms can be eliminated very easily if need be.

This treatment option will cost you $2,900. This treatment consists of putting on a band-aide with hookworm on it, which penetrates through the skin. He offers other parasites for treatments of other diseases. "Lawrence Autoimmune Therapies" is where the customers purchase these new therapies.
