When a talk show host or a want to be child psychiatrist says don't correct your children. You might hurt their creatively. Then all the "modern" parents start letting their little angels be their selves. It doesn't matter what others might think of their children, just as long as little Sally or little Sam is happy. Everyone has seen little Johnny demand candy while in the grocery store line. When mommy and daddy say no he hits the floor kicking and screaming. Instead of correcting him in anyway, (rear end would have got a good warming up from my Dad) they dust him off and give him the candy and really think they are doing right. GROW UP PEOPLE this is real life not the movies. These same spoiled brats have to go out into the real world one day. When things go wrong are you still going to be there to make it all better?
Will someone please explain what a six-ten year old little angel needs with a three hundred dollar cell phone. Are things so bad that if little Sam or Sue don't like their lunch at school, they need the phone to call mommy and complain. Or could these phones be so that they don't need to pay attention in class just text your friends and discuss what they are going to do in the playground. School work should never interfere with their social life. Remember parents the phone must have the Internet so that your little angel can post their website. Don't forget modern parent, it doesn't matter that you can't afford the three hundred dollar phone, you little angel must have it so that they fit in with their friends.
Parents you must also remember that if your little angel thinks you are not giving them everything that they think should be coming their way, they will divorce you and do as they please and there is nothing you can say or do. Well there are a few things you can do, furnish them with room and board, spending money and anything else your little angel wants. Your little one is a house guest that you must take care of but have no say so in their life. I wish the modern parent the best of luck. You will need it.
All comments and statements made here are my thoughts and feelings. I have raised two daughters the old fashion way, with rules and both are college grads with good jobs and families of their own. They were never into drugs and haven't seen the inside of a jail. I hope the best for you.
