I do, however, know all too well what it´s like living with two growing boys. And as difficult as it may sometimes be dealing with preteen male angst, toilet seats left in the upright position and the music of Limp Bizkit (listen to one of their songs and you will know what I mean), I have to say it´s a much better deal.
Watching a hockey game with my sons appeals to me much more than shopping for hours for the perfect prom dress, only to have your daughter decide she hates it once you get home (sorry, Mom!). Planning our family vacations is never a bother, as my boys are happy with anyplace we choose - as long as we are within 15 minutes of a basketball court. Because my husband and I had boys, we never had to endure The Spice Girls or The Backstreet Boys, and I am happy to say that the name Brittany Spears is considered a dirty word in this house.
I could not even imagine what it would be like to wait up for my daughter to come home from her first date. I remember all too well what I was like at that age and I shudder to think about the worry and torment I must have put my poor parents through. My hope is that when the time comes, no parent will have to worry when their daughter dates one of my boys, as my husband and I are raising them to be respectful and responsible young men. I can only hope that both my sons will look for the same type of girl.
Yes, I can honestly say that boys are much easier to raise than girls. They are quite often easygoing, what-you-see-is-what-you-get creatures. Now, if I can only get them to put that darn toilet seat down...
