It is no secret that children today are facing tougher issues than ever before. Sure, they're still feeling peer pressure and the classroom bully is still around but how do we prepare our children for issues such as the possible threat of school violence, sexual assault, sexual predators on the internet and abduction without causing them to be afraid of their own shadow?
What about handling the daily parenting challenges of arguing, whining, and having to repeat ourselves over and over? Not to mention trying to deal with the biggies such as disrespect, rebellion, behavioral problems and the like that leaves us frustrated, discouraged and feeling like a failure as a parent.
The fact is all parents face problems when dealing with their children. Sometimes we have the answer, sometimes we don't. Where do you turn when you come to an unfamiliar or terrifying place? Anywhere and everywhere. We check our local libraries which are filled with hundreds of books for parents or we purchase a book that may have been recommended specifically for our dilemma. We read magazine articles while in the doctor's office and standing in line at the grocery store and we seek advice from as many people as we can get to listen.
A more modern resource that more and more parents are turning to is The World Wide Web. The internet not only offers an unlimited world of information but is incredibly convenient. From the convenience of your home you can find advice columns, forums, blogs, parenting classes, ECourses, seminars, counselors, psychologists and parenting coaches by simply typing in a few words.
The internet is quickly becoming the number one resource available to parents. Internet providers continue to expand and improve their services. We are able to connect at remarkable speeds and at an affordable rate. An internet connection is quickly becoming available at almost any location on the globe.
We definitely live in a technical world and with all of the advances in technology imagine the impact that The World Wide Web will have on parenting within the next year.

Post a CommentYep, that's him. Even though he came along while my children were all at home he is really learning the difficulties of parenting now that his daughter is 8 years old.
