The first way that parents raise their kids is by spoiling them with material goods. For example; have you ever been in a store when a child is throwing a tantrum in order to get what they want? The parent, thinking that the child should have everything that they want, will give in and purchase the item. This teaches the child that they can manipulate their way through life and in this way get anything that they want. In today's society, these are generally the people who manipulate and use anyone in their lives in order to get what they want. These people, even though they are treating others wrongly, feel like they are entitled to whatever they want. Children, as well as adults need to realize that in order to achieve real success, they must work for most everything. The spoiling method of raising children is a bad choice to make.
The second way that adults raise their children is by shoving them aside and giving them no attention. For example; do you know anybody that always tells their children to go to their room or to go play outside away from them? Or better yet, sit down in front of the television and watch a show or play video games? In today's society, these are generally the people that are withdrawn and sometimes even mentally abusive. Children and adults need to have the knowledge that everyone needs attention. Nobody should feel like they are alone in life and that nobody cares about them. So once again, this is the wrong choice when it comes to raising a child.
The third way in which adults raise their children is by using strict punishment. For example; do you know anybody that has children which are always grounded or in trouble. Some parents in this category also go overboard and hit their children, thinking that it will help them get their point across. In today's society these are generally the people that are constantly in trouble, and some of them become physically abusive to their loved ones. Everybody needs to realize that this is the worst way to parent a child because it not only messes the child up, but also has a negative effect on society as a whole.
The fourth way that adults raise children is by not using any kind of punishment, or having any kind of rules to follow. For example; have you ever been to the park when children are running crazily around while their parents sit back and do nothing? In today's society these are generally the people that follow no rules and they believe that nobody has authority over them. Adults and children alike need to realize that everyone needs to have rules and guidelines to follow. Otherwise, there would be complete and utter chaos in the world.
Everybody in today's society should step back and take a good look at themselves and how their parenting skills are. A combination of the above listed styles needs to be implemented by parents, grandparents and anyone else that is around children. Everybody needs to understand that a system with rules, limits, guidelines, and consequences must be adapted into their parenting styles. Children must have rules, along with being able to have freedom to make their own choices. Society, as a whole, needs to be able to live their lives as they see fit, as long as they have guidelines and laws that must be followed.
In summary, I would like to say once again that I am not calling anyone a bad parent. I am simply saying that you, as a person that children look up to for knowledge and support, must perfect your parenting skills. I personally have seven children and I do make mistakes like everybody else. We all need to raise our children a little more effectively, or else our society will continue to worsen, especially when it comes to moral values. People that were raised correctly, with a combination of parenting styles, make better husbands, wives, friends, etc. These people are more satisfied with their lives, and they are happier and more outgoing than the average adult.
