Lucy Ricardo started off as a devoted housewife, once she became a mother "Little Ricky" became her world. Of course, Lucky never forgot her dreams stardom she just made "Little Ricky" apart of that. As a mother, I have never forgotten about the dreams I had before. In fact, bringing a child into the world has given me more motivation to make my dreams become reality. Lucy Ricardo is one of the best TV moms because she was funny, stylish, and dedicated to her family.
Sophia Petrillo acted as a mother and a friend to her daughter Dorothy and her adult housemates. Sophia was always there for her daughter; she always called Dorothy her "Pussycat" when she comforted her. Of course they had their moments where Sophia would be overall critical, but at the end of the day they had a bond that could not be destroyed. Many mothers including myself can relate to this sentiment. People always say things that can hurt someone else's feelings but at the end of the day it because apparent who is there to love and support you. Sophia Petrillo should be remembered for being of the best TV moms for her dedication to not only her daughter but her daughter's friends who she took into her heart and treated them as her own.
Carol Brady was the matriarch of The Brady family. The Bradys were a blended family consisting of 3 boys from husband Mike Brady's first marriage (he was widowed) and there were 3 girls from Carol's first marriage. Of course the relationship between all of the children was did not start off well in the beginning but eventually they all became friends. Carol and Alice the housekeeper held down the fort while Mike was at work. Somehow Carol and Alice were always there for the 6 kids. The kids learned to work together thanks to the great parenting and family support. This family is inspirational because it is very easy to forget they were a blended family because they were so close and loved each other so much, this is how all families should strive to be.
Claire Huxtable is one of the best TV moms because she was a role model for all mothers. She balanced her busy career as a lawyer with family life. The Cosby show dealt with many serious issues involving the kids and she showed that should could still be a mother and maintain a full-time job. Claire was the nurturer and the problem solver, while the kids were nervous about their father's reactions they knew they could come to their mom first. Clair did not give her children a free ride, but she was firm and treated them with love and understanding.
Thelma Harper from the '80s sitcom "Mama's Family" was a strict mother with a big heart. This mom had a big enough heart to allow her adult son, 2 children, daughter-in-law, and sister to move in to her home. The Harper house was not always a happy home because Thelma would lay down the law and push her family to work hard. Thelma taught her family the important lesson of responsibility. Even though Thelma took in her son's family, they still had to go to work and school and learn to be self-sufficient. Every mom should have a part of "Mama" Thelma in them.
