Parent's Choice Infant Formula: Just as Good as Enfamil but Half the Cost

Chris Marcum
I have two toddlers one I gave Enfamil exclusively and the other started on Enfamil until I wised up. It was merely by accident that she got the parents choice. I had sent my husband to the store to pick up the Enfamil, but they were out and my husband picked up the closest thing to it. He brought home this parents choice formula. Of course at first I didn't like it. It was clumpier than the Enfamil. It seemed like it had more moisture in it.

After close inspection of the labels I discovered that they were almost exactly the same. The only difference that I saw was that the parents choice had more fat proteins in it. Which in my daughter's case was a good thing. She was in need of the extra lipids. That also explained why the Enfamil seemed to be drier than the Parent's Choice. My daughter took to the Parent's Choice without a problem and I never switched back.

The Parent's Choice has the same ingredients and comes in the same size container but is half the cost as Enfamil. It would be a wise choice for parent to switch to the Parent's Choice if their baby will take it. Parent's Choice Infant formula can be found exclusively at Wal-Mart Stores. The average cost of Enfamil at Wal-Mart is $23.00 for a large can and the average cost of Parent's choice is $11.00. This will make a 50% savings, which comes in handy when considering all the formula you will go through in that first year.

An even better deal is if you shop at Sam's Club, the whole sale store related to Wal-mart. At Sam's Club they carry the same formula but labeled under a different name. At Sam's Club it is called Member's Mark, but trust me it is exactly the same as Parent's choice. There you can get an extra large can for $15.
Their extra large can is like the equivalent of one and a half of the large cans you can get at Wal-Mart.

Consider switching to Parent's Choice and save a bunch. Parent's choice makes several versions:
Gentle Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA
Organic Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA
Lactose Free Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA
Milk Base Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA
Soy Base Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA
Milk Base Formula with Iron
Soy Base Formula with Iron
Stage 2 Formula with Lipids DHA & ARA

Parents Choice is made by a company called PDM Nutritionals, LLC. Which sells it's formula to a lot of stores including Target and Meijers. I think most store brands are manufactured by PDM. and equally good.

If you go to the Parent's Choice website, they have a really cool savings calculator. You can see how much money you'll save just by switching to Parent's Choice formula!
@short1 I've spoken to people at Walmart and PBM, and there is no indication that Walmart will stop carrying parent's choice!! You should be ok!

Our pediatrician recommended Parents choice Lactose free formula for our little one after going through 8 different formulas in a 6 month period. Now we are finding out that Walmart is no longer going to carry this formula. Our daughter cannot keep any others down...so now we aren't sure what to do. We have called Walmart and voiced our complaint...we will see if it works

You're totally right. I am a mother of twins and ended up saving $1200 by switching to Walmart's store brand formula, Parent's Choice Infant Formula. At $11.99, it was half the price of the Enfamil Lipil formula and my boy's tolerated it just fine. If you look at the label the ingredients match as well, which just goes to show you that the Food and Drug Administration reguires all infant formulas to meet the same nutritional guidelines. Great article!

I have been feeding DD the Organic version of the Parents Choice since she turn 4 month old. Even as organic formula, it is about half the price of major brand name. The switch over from Goodstart is easy. DD did really well on both of them. I used sample Enfamil and Similac too and hated the foams that they produce. I am really glad that I found Parent's Choice Organic.

The best milk is breasts milk but I suppose if that doesn't work...you really need to find something without all the crap in it. You really have to read the ingredients. You certainly don't want any soy in your baby's formula because it can really mess up their Thyroid. Your doctor might tell you differently, I'm telling you from experience. Keep it all natural and you will not have any issues.

I fed Enfamil to my son until the age of 4 and then switched to Parents Choice to save money! Now he's a healthy 9 year old and still takes Parents Choice and loves it! He said he will drink it for the rest of his life...

My son LOVES this formula. After many trials and errors, this is the formula he does best on and it's just a bonus that it's easier on the pocketbook. He loves the taste (he's very picky) and never made a single face when we switched him over to this formula. He is not gassy or constipated anymore either(like on all other formulas he had one or the other). Happy Baby = Happy Mommy

    Hi,

I just wanted to let parents know that you don't have to just get this formula at Wal-Mart. Although I found that it's the cheapest at Wal-Mart. BJ's Wholesale club sells it under their name, Publix sells it under their name and Kroger sells it under there name. You can bring your Parent's Choice label into any of those stores and compare them. They all say Manufactured by: PBM Nutritionals, LLC. Also, there will be a Martek DHA logo. I hope this helps you save money :)
