Parent's Day Out with Grand Parents

We all are pretty much aware of the events like Children's Day out with Parents and Parent's day out with children which everyone feels are quite common to observe. With schools getting creative day by day, we have such events involving both parents and children. However in my colony of Darya Ganj everybody witnessed the rarest of all events - Parent's Day out with Grand Parents. All thanks to the children in our society who thought of organizing such a function.

The event was planned by children to involve their parents along with their grandparents in different type of activities. The sole purpose of such thinking was to involve elders with their elders and make parents become children again. Right from the day of announcement of the event, everyone was excited to not only witness but to be a part of it.

There were several activities involving both physical and mental toughness. To start with all the parents were made to form a team with their parents and construct a creative name representing their characteristics. The enthusiasm with which everyone participated was one thing to watch out for. Parents became children and grandparents were the parents for that moment. The most interactive game was where the teams were asked to perform a skit involving all the members and the females were to play the male part and vice verse. This added spice to the fun dish which was on course for the perfect weekend.

Treasure hunt gave an opportunity to see other side of elders where they searched for a list of 10 items all around the society to emerge as winners. Though the items in the list were a bit difficult to search for, however teams managed to do a fair enough job with my neighbors winning the hunt having 8 out of the 10 items in their kitty. Voluntary events were their where seniors showcased their forgotten special skills like singing, dancing, acting. All this was followed by some treat for the stomach as a Cookery contest was organized for all the ladies on the floor and we had some awesome dishes to be made and tasted. Many dishes got booked for cooking at the general functions of the society.

The organizers of the event - Children were not to be left out so we had DJ playing cool numbers towards the evening for everyone to shake their legs on some hot dancing numbers. By the time the event was over, so was the energy levels of everyone but not the spirits. It was a kind of event which everyone longed to be organized again and again with all the parents happily agreeing to participate in. After all who does not love to live the old young days of life all over again when you have almost forgotten them in the daily life.
