Parents Can Purposely Conceive a Girl

Doc Watson
Many people will reach a time in their life in which they are ready to begin a family and have children. Couples who intend on conceiving will usually vary in whether they prefer having a boy or girl. Many are completely content with simply having a child in the first place and leave it to nature to decide gender. However, for those who would may already have one or multiple boys and would not mind the next addition to their family being a girl, there is a way to raise the chances on doing so.

Though there may be a few ideas, theories, or methods on purposely conceiving a girl, the following way is the one that is backed up biological scientific fact. It involves intercourse taking place at the right time to enable the correct male chromosome to fertilize the female egg.

First, the mother needs to be accurately aware of her ovulation cycle. She needs to know the date in which she is likely to begin releasing her old egg. Knowing this will make possible knowing when intercourse between the future parents will need to take place, which needs to be a few days prior, roughly three or four.

The reasons for this being, the male produces two types of sperm, Chromosome Y which is male and Chromosome X which is female. Chromosome Y sperm is faster than Chromosome X sperm, however Chromosome Y sperm cannot live as long once being released as Chromosome X sperm.

According to biology-online.org it can be concluded that in order for a female to be conceived, the egg needs to be fertilized by an X Chromosome sperm. The way this can be intentionally done takes us back to the time of intercourse. If intercourse is undertaken at the right time before (three to four days) and then not done for the remaining days left until ovulation, this will almost ensure a girl to be conceived. This is made possible due to the shorten life span of the Y Chromosome sperm. Even as the old egg is being released, X Chromosome sperm can remain within the uterus and will be first in line to fertilize the new egg.

So knowing this, if a couple wanted to make their attempts at having a boy, intercourse a day or so prior to ovulation would enable faster Y Chromosomes be the first to the egg. This method is one that makes total sense when considering human biology.
