Paris Hilton Arrested in Vegas on Cocaine Charge

Paris Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas last night for possession of Cocaine, according to the Associated Press.

Police made a traffic stop on suspicion of marijuana use, when they saw smoke wafting from a vehicle driven by a friend of Paris Hilton's.

During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, police found an undetermined amount of Cocaine on Paris Hilton's person. The driver of the vehicle and Paris Hilton were arrested. Paris Hilton was released under her own recognizance just hours later.

Paris Hilton, great granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton Hotel Group, media darling and socialite, claimed to have been deeply impacted by serving a 23 day jail sentence in 2007 for violating probation on a 2006 DUI charge. Paris claimed in an interview with Larry King that her post jail term life was a new beginning.

And for a time it seemed the statement was genuine, until this summer, when Paris was also detained for marijuana use at the World Cup in South Africa. And now again, at home in Las Vegas.

Granted, Paris Hilton did have a rough week.

Nathan Parada was arrested earlier this week for allegedly attempting to break into Paris Hilton's Las Vegas home. Parada, who was reportedly armed with two large knives, was detained by Paris' pistol wielding boyfriend until police arrived.

But where the rest of us turn to a glass of wine to decompress on a Friday night, Paris Hilton allegedly turns to illicit substances.

Celebrity dish on the young, privileged and beautiful had become a little scant with Lindsay Lohan off in rehab, so perhaps we should thank Paris Hilton for giving us all a new case to follow-especially with an unimaginative "it wasn't mine" defense.
