Paris Hilton Free from Jail, Wearing Ankle Bracelet on Home Arrest
Celebrity Will Serve Sentence at Her Hollywood Hills Home
After spending Sunday through Thursday in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA, Hilton's sentence has been changed to home arrest. The celebrity will wear an electronic monitoring bracelet on her ankle.
Her new sentence is 45 days at her Hollywood Hills home under the supervision of the L.A. County Probation Department. The five partial days she spent at the jail will count towards her 45 day sentence, leaving her with just 40 days left of house arrest.
The decision came about due to a medical condition, Steve Whitmore, a Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesperson, explained during a Thursday morning press conference. The actual medical condition was not discussed due to privacy laws.
MSNBC speculates that Hilton is receiving special treatment since such facilities are prepared to handle medical concerns.
Rumors are running wild on the internet about what the medical condition could be. Talk is ranging from a rash to a staph infection common to jail facilities to herpes. As of Thursday, June 7, 2007, no official announcement has been made on Paris' medical condition.
Hilton was placed in the Century Regional Detention Facility last Sunday after driving with a suspended license and violating her probation from an alcohol related reckless driving case. Her original sentence of 45 days in the jail was reduced to 23 days.
The new home arrest will be much more comfortable for Hilton after spending jail time in an 8'x12' cell. Hilton will be allowed to leave her home for 30 minute stints as long as she stays within a 3,000-4,000 foot range of her tracking device. This will allow Hilton to still retrieve the mail, smile for paparazzi and work on her tan.
Paris Hilton and her entourage have not made any public statements concerning the sentence reassignment as of June 7, 2007.
Currently the Hilton Hotel heiress co-star's with Nicole Richie on "The Simple Life", a reality television show that started in 2003. Hilton has also dabbled in the music industry and recorded two albums under her own label, Heiress Records. Paris and Nothing in this World were released in 2006.
Hilton is also known for her cameo movie roles in Zoolander (2001), Wonderland (2003), The Hat in The Hat (2003) and on television on "The O.C." (2003) and "George Lopez" (2002).
